Abstract The objective of this paper is to explore the relationship between games and children in the contemporary context. The article begins with the consideration of children’s play as a meaningful practice focussing on new technologies of information and Communication. Along the research, Facebook was identified as the most important place that children associated with games. That is why, the role that Facebook “plays” is one of the most important focusses of this paper: the uses made of the most used social network, the games they play and the most relevant articulations between children, socialization and Facebook. It is not our objective to analyse games thoroughly but to enter into a universe in which children built their social connections with each other, representations, media and adults are related and intertwined. In this path, we analyze Facebook as the most important contemporary platform from which socialization, exhibition and competition are built by children. Keywords:

The re?ection about games is a complex task: it assumes spontaneity, in many cases, the forms and contents that it acquires seem to place it in a secondary place in what refers to its treatment. That’s why a ?rst step is to locate it in an intersection: the culture, its conditionings and possibilities; the social and educative trajectory of those who play and the history in which the practice develops. The objective of this paper is to present a path through some of the theoretical and methodological approximations to think about the games in order to, in a second moment, propose a classi?cation of contemporary children’s games that includes as a novelty the media as an interventionist variable in an attempt to contribute to the discussion and re?ection about games and new communicative scenarios. Re?ecting about children’s games can not be a task isolated from media in general and from television in particular because of its impact in the life of the kids.

The focus of this article is related to a research project in which we analyze the relationship between children, media and consumption. In this text we aim to explore the symbolic strategies that mobile phone companies use to incorporate children as a new target of consumption. In this case, we will work with the campaign “Mi primer Claro” because of its duration- it’s been in the air for more than three years, and because of its geographical reach- it includes all Latin America. We will focus on the ways through which the possibility of having a mobile phone during childhood is presented, the supposed benefits of owning one, and the impact in both the societal and family frames. With the selected corpus we aim to analyze the ways in which children, adults and their relationships are represented.
