A unique three-dimensional assembly is evident in the crystal structure of the cage compound 1: each molecule participates in the formation of eight O-H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonds with neighboring molecules to form cavities with approximate dimensions of 3×3×8 Å3 . In contrast, compound 2, which contains the same framework structure, does not show this behavior in the crystal.

: A facile synthesis utilizing tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen difluoride and Group 13 alkyl compounds leads to the soluble salts 1 - 4. Compound 1 is the smallest difluoro-diorganoaluminate so far characterized. The corresponding gallium and indium derivatives 3 and 4 are not sensitive to moisture.

Fluorine-nitrogen metathesis in the reaction of a cyclic iminoalane with titanocene fluorides results in unexpected cage compounds. Treatment of one of these compounds with diethyl ether leads to 1, which contains a titanium-nitrogen double bond stabilized intramolecularly by fluorine.

Two different routes are presented for the synthesis of dichloroindium amides. On the one hand we prepared (THF)3Li(µ-Cl)Cl2InN(SiMe3)(Dipp) (1) (Dipp = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl) by the reaction of indium trichloride with the lithiated aniline, on the other hand Cl2InNEt2 (2) by trimethylsilyl chloride elimination. Compound 1 was characterized by X-ray strucural analysis.

In this paper we summarize our recent results concerning molecular iminosilicates containing group 13 metals. Furthermore, we report on the synthesis of the first Si-NH-In cage compound. These compounds are isostructural and isoelectronic to the known heterosiloxanes.
