The role of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in the field of catalysis is discussed, and special focus is placed on their assets and limits in light of current challenges in catalysis and green chemistry. Their structural and dynamic features are presented in terms of catalytic functions along with how MOFs can be designed to bridge the gap between zeolites and enzymes. The contributions of MOFs to the field of catalysis are comprehensively reviewed and a list of catalytic candidates is given. The subject is presented from a multidisciplinary point of view covering solid-state chemistry, materials science, and catalysis.

Several classical methods were described for the selective synthesis of cinnamaldehyde derivatives and 3-arylpropionic acids but their applicability remains limited due to the difficult and costly synthesis of the starting materials. Since few years, palladium cata- lyzed procedure has been reported. Whatever they use homogeneous or heterogeneous palladium catalysts, these catalytic methods offer viable environmental friendly alternatives to stoechiometric methods particularly since they generally required a single reaction step start- ing from simple substrates. Some of these new methods are really considered as green alternatives since they use heterogeneous easily separable (and recyclable) palladium catalysts. This review article summarizes the literature on this area. It is ended by mechanistic considerations.

Some somatostatine analogs were synthesized and tested for cytotoxic activity in comparison with sandostatine and octreotide in cell cultures, expressing somatostatine receptors: human prostate carcinoma cell line LNCap, LNCap-LN3, LNCap-clon FGC and human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y.
