Vivendo após a morte de amigos: história oral de idosos

This objective article reveals and thus improves comprehension concerning elderly life after the death of a friend from the elderly care center. Using a qualitative approach, oral history was used as the guiding theoretical support and interviews and indirect participatory observation were used as techniques for data collection. The period of collection was from April to June of 2003 in a geriatric residence in the city of the Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The 15 elderly residents were interviewed. The analysis utilized was that of thematic content. The results disclosed that elderly life passed through deep alterations imposed by the process of struggle and typical non-complicated fighting characteristics emerged: feelings, physical sensations, cognitions, and behaviors. This study concludes that the elderly need attention and accompaniment from the professionals who work in the geriatrical residences similar of these who win the struggle and continue living. RESUMEN: El objetivo del presente artículo es divulgar y comprender la vida del anciano después de la muerte de su amigo del asilo. Se hizo un análisis cualitativo, utilizando como teoría directora la historia oral temática y, como técnica para la recolección de los datos, se empleó: entrevista y observación participante indirecta. El período de la recolección de los datos fue de abril a junio de 2003, en una residencia geriátrica situada en la ciudad de Salvador Ba. Se entrevistaron 15 ancianos residentes. El análisis usado fue de contenido temático. Los resultados revelaron que la vida del anciano pasó por profundas alteraciones impuestas por el proceso de luto, surgiendo características normales del luto, tales como: sentimientos, sensaciones físicas, cogniciones y comportamientos. Se concluyó que los ancianos necesitan de atención y del acompañamiento de los profesionales que trabajan en las residencias geriátricas, con el objetivo de que ellos puedan superar el luto y continuar viviendo. Perception of the death and dying of the nursing students. A qualitative study.

This objective article to understand the meaning of the death and dying in the daily one of the nursing academics. Study qualitative, carried through in the dependences of a situated state university in the city of the Salvador/Ba, the period of February-May/2006. It was used half-structuralized interview as technique for collection of data. The corpus was composed for ten students of the course of nursing of varied semesters. The data had been analyzed on the basis of the categorical analysis of contents and emerged three categories: Coming close itself to the death in the process to take care of; Fear of the death and needing preparation to deal with the death. One concluded that the nursing academics are unprepared to deal with its emotions and feelings, as well as of its customers in whom he refers to the death process and dying.

This article has for objective to revise the reference of Symbolic Interactionism and to evidence your theoretical-methodology use in the qualitative approach of researches that you/they involve children and nursing interventions. It is a bibliographical study, embracing the period from 1977 to 2005. It was ended that that research methodology is adapted for the research in pediatric nursing and, therefore, it can be used broadly by the interested male nurses in looking for in the experience of the infantile population, information not documented and capable to address the nursing attendance.

Verbal history and qualitative research in nursing. A bibliographic study

The present article aims to review the main texts that deal with Oral History by identifying among the most important conceptions, the one that best fits the field of nursing. It´s a bibliografical study, embracing the period from 1983 to 2005. They were identified three main conceptions on Oral History: research technique; as a subject formed by a distinct theoretical body related to its practice; and research methodology. The outcome of this study emphasizes that the Oral History conception as a research methodology is more appropriate for nursing research due to the fact that it allows the assistance direction from the individuals own experience, e, therefore, must wide be used by the nurses interested in searching the singularity of one given experience one for the life of people and/or groups.

The child facing the stress before surgery. An exploratory study.

Descriptive exploratory study of qualitative boarding directed to analyses the parameter of the children to the stress before-surgical. They were unreason as technical of collects the observation without participation and the interview with the mothers. They participated, nine children in age preschool, internal in pediatric of the philanthropic hospital in Salvador, who hoped to be put under surgery. In the Symbolic Interacionism and analyzes the contender suffering of the children ahead the restrictions and difficulties faced in the course of the stress before-surgical one through the categories: Suffering with stress before-surgical, Coming to operate without knowing the reason and coexist the stranger and the stranger. It was finished that the perception, the actions and the expressions of the children represents how it hits the surgery that is for the boy. That understanding can favor the application of actions that search the difficulties faced by the children in the before-surgical.
