Readiness of teachers for change in schools

Theorizing on the role of teacher attitudes in change effectiveness, this study examined the predictive value of context (trust), process (social interaction, participative management and knowledge sharing) and outcome (job satisfaction and workload perception) variables for cognitive, emotional and intentional readiness of teachers for change. The study was designed as predictive correlational study. Data were collected from 1649 elementary teachers. Hierarchical linear regression analysis results indicated that background and context variables are weak predictors of readiness for change (RFC), while job outcome and process variables emerged as stronger predictors of RFC. The central role of job satisfaction and trust in predicting RFC suggests that readiness cannot be limited to times of change; rather, it is closely related to total experiences of teachers on their job. As a result, for a more effective management of teachers’ attitudes towards change leadership needs to hold a broader temporal and contextual understanding rather than demonstrating limited interventions during times of change.

Eğitimde Denetim Tutum Ölçeği Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması

Bu calisma ogretmenlerin denetime iliskin tutumlarini olcen Denetim Tutum Olcegi (DTO) gelistirme surecini anlatmaktadir. Calismada on uygulama icin 160 ogretmenin gorusune basvurulmustur. Arastirmanin ikinci adiminda acimlayici faktor uygulamasi icin olcek 270 ogretmene uygulanmistir. Elde edilen veriler dogrultusunda acimlayici faktor analizi yapilmis ve acimlayici faktor analizi sonuclarina gore diger bir grup ogretmene (n=350) dogrulayici faktor analiz yapmak icin tekrar uygulanmistir. Olcegin yapi gecerligi icin aciklayici ve dogrulayici faktor analizi yapilmistir. Guvenirlik calismalarinda ise, ic tutarlilik katsayisi ve madde analizlerine yer verilmistir. DTO’nin faktor yapisi uc boyutlu olarak tanimlanmistir. Bu boyutlar maddelerin ifade ettigi anlamlarin ortak nitelikleri dikkate alinarak adlandirilmistir. Buna gore Denetim Tutum Olcegi; Bilgi, Nezaket ve Isteklilik boyutlari olarak adlandirilmistir. Denetim Tutum Olcegine iliskin ikinci veri seti ile yapilan Dogrulayici Faktor Analiz sonucunda DAF uyum indekslerine iliskin kabul edilebilir araliklarin sinirlar icerisinde oldugu gorulmektedir. Bu sonuclardan hareketle Denetim Tutum Olcegi’nin ogretmenlerin denetim surecine iliskin tutumlarini olcmede kullanilabilecek gecerli ve guvenilir bir olcek oldugu gorulmustur.
