Abstract The fatty acid (FA) compositions of carp and yag fish oils provided in April 2009, July 2009 and March 2010, and November 2009 and March 2010 periods were determined via Gas Chromatography (GC). While the main fatty acids of carp oils are determined oleic, palmitic and palmitoleic acids were established as major fatty acids of yag fish oil. Oleic acid contents of carp muscle oil ranged between 34.53 % (July 2009) and 37.50 % (March 2010). Palmitic acid contents of yag fish oil changed between 23.08 % (November 2009) and 30.08 % (March 2010). While oleic acid contents of carp are found at high levels, palmitic acid was determined high in yag fish oil. At the same time, in yag fish oil contained palmitoleic acids (19.11–26.11 %) at high levels. Differences were observed (p<0.05) for myristic (2.53 to 23.43), palmitic (13.03 to 30.08 %) and oleic (0.97 to 37.50 %). As a consequence, the percentage of unsaturated fatty acids appeared to be different in carp and yag fish .

Polysulfone (PS) composite membrane using green synthesized biogenic silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) with Ulva compressa (L.) Kütz. and Cladophora glomerata (L.) Kütz. extract were prepared by spin coating technique and are tested for antimicrobial activity using a direct contact test for the first time. Initially green synthesis of Ag-NPs was accomplished utilizing green macro algae i.e. U. compressa (L.) Kütz. and C. glomerata (L.) Kütz. by the reduction of AgNO3. The Ag-NPs/PS composite membranes from both algae revealed outstanding antimicrobial activity against all bacteria i.e. K. pneumonia, P. aeruginasa, E. coli, E. faecium and S. aureus. Bacterial growth was monitored for 17h with a temperature controlled microplate spectrophotometer. The kinetics of the outgrowth in each well were recorded continuously at 630nm every 60min. Thus present work remarkably offers a feasible, cheap and efficient alternative for making Ag-NPs and their utilization as antimicrobial agent on the PS composite membrane.

ABSTRACT This research has been conducted to determine the heavy metal (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) accumulation in the fish species Carp (Cyprinus carpio Linneaus, 1758) and Fatty fish (Phoxinellus anatolicus Hanko, 1924) taken from Suğla Lake, which is one of the most important water sources of Konya. In this research, conducted in 2009-2010, the heavy metal accumulation was examined in the time span of one year seasonally. And it has been concluded at the end of the research that the heavy metal accumulations show statistical dramatic differences between the seasons (p<0,05).
