Since its beginnings in 1802, salt mining in Torrevieja has changed drastically as regards its managerial structure and the expansion of its markets, which has encouraged both social and economic growth in that region. This project aim is to make a systematic approximation about the main characteristics of the industrial exploitation of the Torrevieja salt mines (NCAST, S.A.). The geographical criteria in this work has both a quantitative and qualitative approach and remarks its contents through the analysis of the evolution and current situation of the saltworks, evaluation of the principal markets and an study of the fluctuations in the gross production of salt depending on the behaviour of several meteorological elements.

This work consists of a brief analysis of the outstandingly abnormal character featured by rainfalls during spring 2004. This study focuses on the detailed examination of the persistence degree of this hydrometeor in Villena (Alicante), in March, April and May. Simple probabilistic analysis methods are used in order to check the state of inertia in rainy days, something which is not at all common in Mediterranean-type climates.

Even though it is a strange meteorological phenomena, the intense cold atmospheric conditions and snow above the height of sea level in the low lands of the Alto Vinalopo zones happens in cycles during the years; each incident has various degrees of force and its snow characteristics. This study wants to make an exhaustive analysis of the heavy snowstorms which fell during the autumn days of the 15 th and 16 th of November in the area of Villena. In this article we can see atmospherical causes and the effects of the icy-cold and snow; and those factors that occur in snowstorms and how often they happen. The readjustment mechanisms in the energetic balance of the planet are the main reasons for the cold and snow situations that usually lash at the geography of the inland zones of Alicante.

The summer sea breeze winds go unnoticed for common people and they are only detected by their sweetening effect on the temperatures on the coast during the middles summer months, the climatical significance of these periodical winds has been the main worry and the theme of study since the beginning of climatical science. This study wants to justify, through the meteorological occurrence of hard rain and hail stone on the 27 th of april 2001, the importance that the group of local winds (sea-earth breeze and valleymountains winds) have as main firing pin their genesis of active breeze fronts in the high zones of the «Vinalopo».
