Research and Implementation on Patent Knowledge Modeling Based on TRIZ

Chang Qing Gao; Wei Chen; Shan Min Mi; Fang Zhao

Patent is a key knowledge base for product innovation design. The current patent knowledge model and retrieving pattern can not supporting technology innovation sufficiently. TRIZ is a kind of innovation methodology based on patent analysis and there is a congenital relationship between them. Innovation design oriented patent model is researched based on inventive principles, standard solutions, effect and other TRIZ tools. As a Computer Aided Innovation system, Innovation Engine is introduced and developed. The effectiveness is proved by the conceptual design of Cotton Picker. The patent knowledge of cross domain is used successfully by Innovation Engine.

Research on Innovation Design of Air Filter Mould Based on Field-Substance Analysis

Chang Qing Gao; Jian Hua Sun; Jie Lv; Bo Yang

Air filter is the important part of air condition systems for the high-speed railways, which has an immediate impact on the air quality. Mould is used for the formation of air filter with the corresponding surface shape. The problem appeared with breakage of the steel wire during the formation process by the mould. Field-Substance analysis and 76 standard solutions are used to describe the problem and generate the solution. The validity of the innovation design is proved with the implementation during the manufacturing practice.

The Conceptual Design of Exercise Washing Machine Based on Trimming

Er Hu Zhang; Chang Qing Gao; Bo Yang; Huan Huan Su

Trimming is a kind of problem resolving tools for invention in TRIZ. The technical system can be improved by trimming a component of the system and redistributing its function to other components.Functional analysis is the basis for applying trimming method. Based on definition of function and the process of functional analysis process, four kinds of technical system trimming strategies were discussed and the general steps for technical system trimming were analyzed. The effectiveness of trimming method was applied on the exercise washing machine design.

The Research and Application of Innovative Approaches Based on Cognitive Processes

Huan Huan Su; Chang Qing Gao; Bo Yang; Er Hu Zhang

Conceptual design is the most innovative stages in the life cycle of product development, and its process consists of a large number of cognitive activities. Cognitive science is an interdisciplinary research emerging science of nature and law of the mind and intelligence. In order to get the creative thinking effectively in the product innovation process, the cognitive science and creative thinking of thinking psychology and the inventive problem solving method which is based on the law of engineering and technical development must be organically combined, to stimulate the thinking of designers and achieve the product innovation design rapidly. A method based on the cognitive process to solve the innovation problem is presented in this paper. TRIZ and cognitive process are combined organically. The cognitive processes of TRIZ problem-solving are also described in this paper, and an instance of the beam extraction machine is given.

Pedigree Based Product Conceptual Design

Kong Yao; Bong Yang; Xing Zu Wang; Chang Qing Gao

By applying pedigree into product conceptual structure design, an evolutionary conceptual design approach is set forth to make full use of creative and innovative intelligence of living systems for design automation. According to the evolutional logic of quantities to quality, the relationship between different conceptual structures is deduced and ordered, then is expressed as product pedigree. The classification description model of product pedigree is established, which can be used as unified functionally isomorphic model during the intelligent conceptual design process. On the other hand, according to the evolutional logic of quality to quantities, pedigree based product evolutionary design strategy are given. Based on the relation network among pedigree units, multiple variation designing schemes can be obtained, which is a strong backbone to the innovative design process. Finally, design examples are used to demonstrate the successful application of the proposed pedigree based evolutionary method in the multi-scheme conceptual design of product.

Xing Zu Wang; Bo Yang; Kong Yao; Chang Qing Gao

By applying biological pedigree concept into product conceptual structure design, an conceptual structural design approach is set forth to make full use of creative and innovative intelligence of living systems for design automation. According to the relationship between different product structures with same function, the classification model of product pedigree is established, which can be used as unified functional isomorphic model during the intelligent conceptual design process. On the other hand, according to the evolutional logic from quality change to quantities change, pedigree based product evolutionary design strategy is given. Product pedigrees which are homology dependent are used as basic evolutionary models, based on which, the parameter based, interaction field based and interaction mater based evolutional conceptual design method are proposed, respectively. Based on the relation network of the pedigree units, multiple variant design schemes can be obtained, which is a strong backbone to the innovative design process. Finally, design examples are used to demonstrate the successful application of the proposed pedigree based evolutionary method in the product variant design.

Resource Conflict Resolution Strategy in Collaborative Design Environment

Hai Tao Li; Bo Yang; Wei Wang; Chang Qing Gao

Shortcomings of current conflict resolution methods in solving the problems of disordered competition for design resource in networked design environment are analyzed. By introducing the design structure matrix (DSM) to the planning process of design task, a mathematic description model in collaborative design considering the conflict causes as resource conflict, process conflict and design conflict is given. The reconstruction method of the DSM as well as the DSM based matrix search algorithm is given, based on which the problem of design locking and long waiting because of limited resource in the collaborative design process can be successfully solved. Finally, the design of a bridge crane is used as an example to demonstrate the successful application of the proposed resource conflict resolution strategy in collaborative Design environment.

The Solution to the Conflict Problem Based on the Physical Behavior Analysis of Invention Principles

Huan Huan Su; Chang Qing Gao; Bo Yang; Er Hu Zhang

Product innovation is the key for the manufacturing to win in the market competition, and the logo of product innovation is to resolve design conflicts. The conflict in the reality is vastly different. If it has not been summarized, we can do not find out the exact way to resolve it. The conflict matrix is provided by TRIZ can help designers to resolve conflicts, but due to these principles of the invention given are more abstract, and each of the specific implementation ways of the principles of the invention are variety, so a reasonable application of principles of the invention is not easy, which a wealth of experience and theoretical knowledge has been needed by designers. The solution of the conflict problem based on the physical behavior analysis of invention principles was given in this paper. A functional modeling was referred to identify the specific cause of conflict arises, through the analysis of the physical behavior of the inventive principles, new conflicts optimization program was drawn.

Research on Component Attributes in Domain Problem Solving

Chang Qing Gao; Huan Huan Su; Bo Yang; Bing Lv; Yu Zeng Wang

Function analysis is a key step during conceptual design process for function reasoning, which is also useful for the confirmation of conflict. And resolving conflict is regarded as the essence of invention in view point of TRIZ. Component attributes are the necessary information for a function model. The classification of the available resource and the component attributes is the base for searching specific solution for the domain problem. The methodology and application of component attributes in conceptual design are discussed in this paper.

Research on Grinding Characteristics of Ultrasonic Aided Grinding

Sheng Feng Ren; Chang Qing Gao; Ru Jian Ma

Experimental study of radial ultrasonic vibration aided grinding of sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnetic material was conducted contrasted with traditional grinding. The effect on normal grinding force of grinding parameters was analyzed respectively in the two grinding processes. Experimental results indicate that the discontinuous grinding mechanism caused by ultrasonic vibration is the main factor that reducing the normal grinding force. The process of radial ultrasonic vibration aided grinding is especially suitable for shape machining of sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet.
