The research evidence regarding the personal nature of clients most likely to show positive change during therapy is inconsistent and unclear. Lipkin ( 1954) studied the relationship between client attitude and the degree of personality change. His findings indicated that clients who had had high expectations and positive attitudes toward the counselor showed the greatest immediate change.
