Abstract Chiral 3-methyl-heptanoic acid is readily accessible by functional group manipulation of optically active citronellol. In principle, this approach is general and could be applied to the synthesis of chiral 3-methyl-alkanoic acids seven carbon atoms in length and longer.

Abstract Griecos protocol for the synthesis of 2-aza-bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane is modified and adapted for large scale preparation. The optical purity of the material is readily upgraded by purification through a chiral salt.

Scalable Process for 4‐(2‐Hydroxy‐2‐methyl)‐ethyl‐benzylamine

Abstract The preparation of the title compound has been revisited and improved. Starting from inexpensive cuminonitrile, 4‐(2‐hydroxy‐2‐methyl)‐ethyl‐benzylamine is obtained in a scalable two‐step process with an overall yield of 55%.
