'My Hand will Write what my Heart Dictates': The Unsettled Lives of Women in Nineteenth-Century New Zealand As Revealed to Sisters, Family and Friends

This work explores the lives of colonial women in the 19th century. It uses letters, journals, diaries and government records to examine the effect that their arrival had on those women whose ancestors had arrived centuries before and looks at how they coped with displacement in a new land.
