Abstract This study is to examine the possibility of applying intelligent agents’ characteristics to affect users’ intention in a search engine. All data were collected using online questionnaires provided in the search engine from users older than 15 years. A total of 890 questionnaires were collected. Based on these data, descriptive statistics analysis, the Pearson product-moment correlation, and hierarchical regression were conducted. All preliminary findings indicate that both beliefs and perceived risks of users in the search engine positively affects their behavioral intention. Therefore, businesses operated using a search engine must always focus on the characteristics of intelligent agents, particularly to eliminate perceived risks to increase the behavioral intention of using the search engine.

Few studies consider the total quality management (TQM) perspective as part of the selection process in order to enhance the service quality of both the process and the selection of competent teachers. The main purpose of this study was to use a case study to identify the critical success factors that enhance service quality in the national teacher selection process in Taiwan. Data were collected from multiple sources including 7 years of archival materials, annual reports and official websites. We also conducted in-depth interviews with successful and unsuccessful job candidates, as well as staff who had hosted the selection within the past 7 years. Our findings reveal seven critical success factors that enhance the service quality of the selection process (SQSP): top management support for the selection process; focus on customer orientation in the selection process; expand the scope of cooperation and participation; provide TQM-oriented training to selectors; make continuous improvements in the process; focus on problem prevention rather than correction; and apply appropriate selection tools as well as quality management tools during the process. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.

BUDGET ALLOCATION FOR INFORMATION LOGISTICS IN TAIWANESE UNIVERSITY

Alvin Chang; Chih-Yang Chao; Jocelyn Chang

This project serves the primary purpose to support the reform of administration budgets for Taiwanese universities to optimize their document processing system. The main research method applied is quantitative analysis to explore the relationships between document quantity and each administration spending. The research observes that Taiwanese universities in general relies more on electronic systems to manage documents. Therefore, as proven by correlation test and regression model, personnel and miscellaneous spending are the only two categories which can help predict document flows. However, only miscellaneous spending is positively related to document quantity, so this category should be allocated with more funding. Personnel spending, on contrary, should be less. For the long-term budgeting strategy, Taiwanese universities should begin with discovering problems from the existing system, design an allocation plan, execute the plan, and finally evaluate the outcomes. This project is on the first to explore the new academic research field which relates to logistics, budgeting, and university administration.

It is important to perform teamwork with high organizational justice. When some unfair events happen, it is counterproductive not only to the performance of the organization, but to organizational efficacy as well. Presses are time-conscious organizations, but they have to face the difficulty of resource distribution. The main purpose of this study is to examine organizational justice in presses. Because presses are so different from other organizations, there must be some kinds of important elements composing their organizational justice. In the procedure of news gathering, reporters always have to face the uncertainty of those events. If presses emphasize too much on the equity of distribution, it is possible that they may miss the deadline, or even lose the news. So presses seem to need another kind of evaluation to appraise their organizational justice. This paper would focus on the campus media, finding how students perform when they face the assignments of news gathering, and what strategies to do justice in this media could affect students¡¦ self-efficacy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the project work learning effectiveness within the technological creativity teaching strategies (TCTS) for the students in vocational high schools. The study was designed by quasi-experiment. The students who were taught by TCTS served as the experimental group and who were taught by the traditional teaching method served as the control group. The experimental processes were through 8 weeks (2 hrs per week trend in TCTS) and 75 students joined the study. The research instruments involved were technology creativity questionnaire and technology creativity attitude questionnaire for vocational high school students. The result showed that the experimental group was more significant than the control group in ”originality,” ”manufacturing feasibility”, ”humaneness”, ”flexibility”, ”apperance” and ”material” of technological creativity under control of pre-test variables. In addition, the experimental group was more significant than the control group on the learning effectiveness of technological creativity ”knowledge.”

LRPBlog - Applying Blog to Learner's Participation Theory for Mutual Communication of E-Learning

Chih-Yang Chao; Shiow-Lin Hwu; Chien-Ding Lee

Recently, learner participation is introduced for education because study effectiveness can be enhanced by participating, interacting and sharing. However, the spatial distance of e-learning makes obstacles to the interaction between teachers and learners. In addition, if the learning still remains the way of lecturing-scribing, the e-learning with learner participation cannot work with their advantages. In order to better effectiveness while applying learner participation in e- learning, a Blog-based LRPBlog system is proposed. In the scheme, learners loading regarding of platform operation is minimal since Blog is one of the most popular internet activities. For teachers, the hardware maintaining is unnecessary, so that the cost to develop LRPBlog is few. Furthermore, the mutual communications among whole partners can be achieved in very simply way. The experimental results show that the students in the class of LRPBlog-aided not only represent better effectiveness, but also win more in certification examination. Therefore, LRPBlog is adapted to enhance learnings participation in the e- learning environment.
