Improved and accessible e-book reader application for visually impaired people

This1paper presents a study of an accessible e-book reader application for visually impaired people. We interviewed 27 visually impaired people to understand their usage patterns of e-books and user requirements in terms of functions and interface of an e-book reader application. Based on this survey, we were able to establish the basic direction of development of our e-book reader application; we implemented the first version of the e-book reader focusing on basic functionality. This version of the e-book reader obtained a value of user satisfaction of more than 75% in the usability test. We are continuing to develop the next version of this e-book reader with differentiated functions for reading professional books that include equations, tables, graphs, and so on. In addition, we are considering supporting a simple and fast input method and providing personalized UI. Beyond ebook readers, we hope that our study will be useful when designing and developing various mobile applications, considering that visually impaired users want to obtain information and experience equal to that available to the non-visually disabled.

Tangible telepresence service using 3D space sensing and transmission.

This paper presents the implementation for 3D space sensing and transmission technique. And also introduces tangible telepresence service through applying the technique. Because 3D space sensing and transmission technique is for performing augmented reality, we expect that it may be used in number of various applications to use augmented reality technology.

Creating value-added services in converged service environment using SCT

In this paper, we present SCT (Service Creation Tool) the component-oriented service creation environment for converged service over telecom and Internet domain. SCT aims to support skilled developer when he is specifying service logic to compose web service based service components in order to create new services. SCT is composed three parts, Graphic Editor, service code generator, and service executor. Our approach support that a developer uses user-friendly Graphic editor for service creation and creates the service to combine service components without knowledge about web-service. Furthermore, the result of service creation can be deployed in real-time.

Providing information of UE for inter-UE session transfer

This paper presents the method for providing information of devices allowing session transfer over multiple devices, named IUT (Inter-UE transfer) of service continuity. In order to provide the IUT, a current device must acquire information about another device to which a session being executed by the current device is to be moved. In order for a user managing a plurality of devices to move a session, the user selects a target device to which the session will move before issuing a session transfer request. We propose the method of providing target device list for IUT session transfer request. Target device list is configured by locating devices having higher possibilities for session transfer to locations having higher session transfer priorities on the target device list. The detail of our proposed method is shown in this paper.
