Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common solid renal neoplasm. Clear cell (conventional) carcinoma is the most common pathologic subtype of RCC. Usually RCC is a hypervascular, solid, solitary mass with contour bulging. However, RCC can manifest different features according to the pathologic tumor subtypes. Preoperative diagnosis of cyst-associated RCC is very difficult, especially in cases of RCC originating in a cyst. Multiple or bilateral presentation of RCC occurs in fewer than 5% of cases. In addition, RCCs may demonstrate unusual findings such as infiltrative growth mimicking transitional cell carcinoma, fatty component mimicking angiomyolipoma, severe perinephric infiltration, and extensive calcifications mimicking inflammation or other tumor. RCCs can be associated with hereditary diseases such as von Hippel-Lindau disease. Familiarity with these radiologic features of unusual RCCs can help ensure correct diagnosis and proper management.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the genetic relationship between weaning weight (WW) and carcass traits. Carcass traits were eye muscle area (EMA), back fat thickness (BFT), marbling score 1 (MS1) in 21 grade scales, marbling score 2 (MS2) in 7 grade scales and meat color scores (Mcolor). Parameters were estimated by REML procedure with MTDFREML package. Models included contemporary group as defined by the same year-season-sex at birth, linear covariates of age (days) at weaning, age of dam (days) and age at slaughter (days) as fixed effects and animal random effects for all the traits. Heritability estimates of WW, EMA, BFT, MS1, MS2 and Mcolor were 0.25, 0.20, 0.20, 0.32, 0.32 and 0.22, respectively. Genetic(phenotypic) correlation coefficients of WW with EMA, BFT, MS1, MS2 and Mcolor were 0.75(0.16), 0.18 (0.05), 0.41 ( 0.09), 0.40 (0.11) and 0.07 (0.05), respectively. Results from this study suggest that single trait selection for weaning weight would lead to progeny population having carcass with large EMA, thick BFT and decreased MS.(

frequency probe alone, and then with saline infusion within 5 days from the end of last menstruation. We used a specific catheter (1.8 mm. Goldstein Catheter Cook) for instilling the pre-heated sterile saline solution, which results in good patient compliance and no complications. The test results were compared with hysteroscopy within 15 days. Results: The first ultrasound test identified 71 suspected cases of endometrial disease such as polyps, under-mucosal leiomyomas and endometrial hyperplasia (thickness > 10 mm); 57 (80.2%) were confirmed by hysteroscopy data; on the other hand, out of the 53 patients with a negative ultrasound examination, 13 presented a positive hysteroscopy (sensibility 81%, specificity 74%). By the SIS in the proliferating phase we found 54 women positive out of 56, 64 negative out of 68 (sensibility 93%, specificity 97%). Moreover, the use of power Doppler associated with the contrast fluid allowed us to establish the type of lesion, identifying 31 polyps out of 36, 12 leiomyomas out of 12, nine cases of hyperplasia out of 10.

A total of 4,627 records on pre-weaning growth traits, birth weight(BW), weaning weight(WW) and pre-weaning daily gain(ADG) of Hanwoo’s born form 1970 to 2005 were collected from Hanwoo Experiment Station, National Livestock Research Institute. Variance components and heritabilities of BW, WW and ADG were estimated with two models; Model 1 included only direct genetic effect while Mode1 2 included direct genetic, maternal genetic and permanent environmental effects. Direct herit- ability estimates of BW, WW and ADG estimated by model 1 were 0.34, 0.26 and 0.20, respectively. In model 2, direct heritability and maternal genetic heritability estimates were 0.14 and 0.06 for BW, 0.07 and 0.04 for WW and 0.05 and 0.04 for ADG. Estimates of genetic correlation between direct and maternal effect for BW, WW and ADG were 0.58, 0.75 and 0.61, respectively. Genetic correlation coefficients between BW and WW, between BW and ADG, and between WW and ADG were 0.76, 0.62 and 0.99, respectively.
