The main objective of the study is to predict the sustainability of low cost airlines and to identify the future growth options. For the purpose of this research, a “split halves” technique of piloting was considered, whereby two small groups of respondents were asked to fill in the questionnaires and their results were compared in order to ensure if the questions were understood by them in the same manner. Eight in depth interviews were conducted both face to face and over telephone. Customer service analysis also was conducted through survey from the customers at London Stansted and Gatwick Airports traveling to numerous destinations on low cost carriers. As a large number of data has been collected through interview and questionnaire survey, data are also analyzed on a deductive manner based upon the importance and significance of achieving the research objectives. Low Cost Carriers (LCC) have developed their value chain and strategies with a focus on cost reduction in comparison to network carriers who also focused on excellent customer service. Industry specialists and consumers both believe that LCC have benefited the industry by providing low fares and made air travel affordable. However both set of respondents also agree on the need for focus on Client Relationship Management (CRM) as a means for being sustainable. Industry specialists believe that LCC should revolve around the LCC basic model rather than a complete transformation into Full Service Carrier (FCC). LCC need to select a need based outsourcing to reduce their unnecessary operational costs. The research concludes with recommendation that LCC’s should formulate cost differentiation strategy for future growth and sustainability.

Purpose – The purpose of this article is to re‐appraise the significance of Lewins group dynamics theory empirically in the context of technology related change in local government.Design/methodology/approach – The paper examines qualitatively the change management processes in the five city councils selected for this study that have developed eservices. A total of 23 face‐to‐face, semi‐structured interviews were conducted with key managers of participating city councils.Findings – The present study finds that participating Australian city councils are experiencing some degree of disconfirmation of functions, while some participating Australian city councils still maintain a quasi‐stationary equilibrium state. There are some challenges in terms of inter‐department integration and empowering business units to demonstrate explicit ownership of Eservices adoption. Empirical evidence presented in this study supports Lewins argument that the main focus of change should be on group behaviour rather than indiv...

The purpose of this paper is to provide an empirical examination of the factors affecting voluntary eService adoption in a public sector work environment. The model examined was constructed following a thorough review of relevant literature on technology adoption through the framework of Theory of Interpersonal Behaviour. Structural equation modelling was used to examine a model assessed through participant responses to survey data for a sample of 515 respondents working in Australian City Councils. The results indicate that an individuals attitudes and beliefs have a significant influence on eService utilisation. Results also suggest that organisational conditions such as training, leadership support and organisational preparedness act to enhance eService utilisation indirectly through their effect on an individuals attitudes and beliefs. The current study provides a model of examining and explaining voluntary technology adoption behaviour in the workplace.

This paper tests whether there are any significant differences between the level of eService development in the councils and its impact on the organisation across the organisational, individual, and eService utilisation factors. A questionnaire survey among four city council employees in Melbourne, Australia has been conducted. The final result of MANOVA analyses are interpreted in light of Lewins (1951) model. The findings show that higher role clarity, better job impact, and more positive attitude are found in the embryonic group of city councils that experiences comparatively lower developments in eServices. Furthermore, compared to councils where little change is occurring, the developing group of city councils report less available support. The embryonic group of city council experiences continuity and that is why employees feel more comfortable and familiar with their website.
