Abstract Dorsal root ganglion stimulation is a fairly recent treatment that has emerged in chronic pain management, often used in cases involving patients with complex regional pain syndrome. We describe a 24-year-old woman with severe left hip pain secondary to avascular necrosis in whom multiple treatments failed, including oral analgesics and radiofrequency ablation. A dorsal root ganglion stimulator was implanted with significant pain relief.

The suprascapular nerve is an under-recognized cause of shoulder pain and dysfunction. A clinician who does not know of the suprascapular entrapment syndrome is unlikely to identify the nerve pathology. Repetitive movements, carrying heavy loads, and stretch injuries can cause injury to the suprascapular nerve.

In this chapter, we will discuss the anatomy of the femoral nerve and surrounding structures. We also consider the signs, symptoms, and most common sites for femoral nerve entrapment and differential diagnoses. Diagnostic testing and contributing factors are also reviewed. Finally, treatment options are examined.
