Abstract A xeromorph is a specially fabricated piezoelectric device suited to supplying the high voltages and electric fields required in xerographic engines. The circuit description of these devices is obtained from fundamental analysis of the internal polarization and charge conservation. The output characteristic takes the form of a Thevenin equivalent circuit, with a virtual internal resistance related to the belt geometry and speed. Measurements of the output characteristic of an experimental generator agree with the model.
