An End-User Evaluation System based on Computing Competency and Complex Indicators

Chui Young Yoon; Keon Myung Lee

This study developed an evaluation system that efficiently examines and interprets an end-user computing competency in a computing environment. The evaluation system has an evaluation model, evaluation method and process, and an interpretation system. The validity and reliability of the developed model construct was verified by factor and reliability analysis with the application of SPSS software. The application and utilization of the developed system was confirmed by applying it to evaluating the computing competency of 316 workers in an enterprise and presenting their results. This system will contribute to developing an evaluation and interpretation methodology for the end-user computing competency and improving the computing competency of human resources in industrial fields.

A Measurement Tool of End-User Computing Capability in Competency Perspective

Chui Young Yoon; Keon Myung Lee

Consensus is one of the most fundamental problems in fault-tolerant distributed computing. This paper proposes a mechanical method for analyzing the condition that allows one to solve consensus. Specifically, we model check a distributed algorithm that implements a communication predicate, which is an alternative system abstraction to failure detectors. This model checking problem is challenging because it involves both continuous time and unbounded integers. We solve the problem by reducing it to the satisfiability problem of linear arithmetic constraints over real and integer variables. The proposed method can be used to determine the length of a synchronous period required for implementing a communication predicate for solving consensus.A measurement tool is developed to totally measure the end-user computing capability in a computing environment, and the tool provides the method and process to effectively measure it. The validity of the tool construct is presented by factor analysis through a survey measurement of 137 respondents, and a 17-item measurement tool is proposed. The application of the tool is confirmed by applying it to measuring the computing competency of the end-users in a computing environment and presenting the results for them.

This study presents a tool for measuring an individual IT capability to efficiently execute the given tasks on an enterprise IT environment. We developed the measurement items for an individual IT capability based on the previous literature. This research proposed a 13-item scale that can totally measure individual IT capability through a validity and reliability test. The developed tool has four measurement factor and thirteen items. The actual utilization of the tool is confirmed by applying it to a case study.

A tool for understanding and measuring end-user e-Business competency

Chui Young Yoon; Keon Myung Lee

We developed measures for an end-user e-Business competency are developed from major components of general competency. By performing factor analysis and reliability analysis on the developed measurement items through a pilot test, we proposed a 16-item tool that can measure an end-user¿s e-Business competency in an e-Business environment. We confirmed the successful application of the tool was confirmed by applying it to measuring e-Business competency of end-users in an enterprise with an e-Business environment.

Chui Young Yoon; Keon Myung Lee; Seung Kweon Hong

This study presents a tool for measuring and managing an individual e-Business capability to efficiently execute the given tasks on an enterprise e-Business system. The measurement items for an individual e-Business capability are extracted from the major components of a general competency. By factor analysis and reliability analysis through a pilot test, we proposed a 14-item tool that can totally measure individual e-Business capability. The developed tool has four measurement factor and fourteen items. The utilization of the tool is confirmed by applying it to a case study.

An evaluation system based on concepts and components of end-user computing competency

Chui Young Yoon; Keon Myung Lee

In a computing environment, the computing capability of an end-user mostly influences the performance of individual business tasks. It needs the evaluation and management of end-user computing capability. This study presents an evaluation system that comprises an evaluation model, evaluation method and process. The evaluation model has four evaluation domains and evaluation items. The model construct was verified by factor analysis and reliability analysis through a pilot test. The application of the developed system was confirmed by applying it to evaluating the end-users in a computing environment and presenting its results. This system will contribute to developing a practical evaluation system and improving the end-user computing capability.
