Cu(C 18H40N4)(H20)2) (C104) 2, M,, = 611.03, monoclinic, P2t/c, a=8.201 (1), b= 16.082(3), c = 10.432(1)A, fl= 103.30(1) °, U= 1338.9A 3, Z =2, Dx= 1.515, Din: 1.50(3)Mgm -3 (by flotation in CC14/hexane mixture), Mo Kcq 2 = 0.71069 A, u = 1-105 mm -~, F(000) = 647, T = 296 (4) K, R(F) = 0.069 for 2828 observed reflections II > 3a(/)l. The coordination about Cu u is a tetragonally distorted octahedron with the macrocycle equatorial and the two water O atoms axial. This complex is centrosymmetric and has the (ISR,4RS,8RS,1 1SR) configuration for the chiral N centers. The six-membered chelate rings exhibit a chair form and the five-membered rings take gauche forms.
