Self-assembly of three supramolecular architectures based on an unsymmetrical N-heterocyclic ligand

Three new compounds, {[Cd(Htmb)(Cl)(CH3CO2)] · CH3OH} n (1), [Cd(Htmb)2(Cl)2(H2O)2] · 4H2O (2), and [Cd(Htmb)2(I)2] (3) (Htmb = 2-(1H-triazol-1-ylmethyl)-1H-benzoimidazole), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 features 1-D infinite double chains with space group and further forms a 3-D supramolecular structure by hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions. Compound 2 displays a mononuclear structure with space group P2/c, wherein an interesting water chain is formed. Compound 3 shows a mononuclear structure with space group P21/n and extends into a 3-D supramolecular structure through hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions. In addition, the spectral properties are investigated, with strong luminescence observed for 1 and 2.

A Novel 2D Tubular Polymer Based on Flexible Bis-Methylbenzimidazole Ligand

A novel metal-organic polymer [Cd(bmb)(p-bdc)] n (1) (bmb = (1,4-bis(2-methylbenzimidazol-1-ylmethyl) benzene); p-H2bdc = p-benzenedicarboxylic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structural characterized. Crystal data: 1, monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 22.786(5) Å, b = 15.712(3) Å, c = 18.305(4) Å, β = 18.305(4)°, Z = 4. Polymer 1 exhibits a 2D puckered layer structure with two different elongated tubular channels. In addition, the thermal stability, PXRD pattern, and photoluminescence properties of 1 in the solid state have also been investigated.
