The purpose of this research is to develop a study to observe the evolution in the generation of knowledge in the thematic on organizational legitimacy and delimit the areas of knowledge from which scientific production developed so far has been addressed. A bibliometric study of quantitative-descriptive character was carried out of the bibliographic material that addresses the study of organizational legitimacy, considering the scientific article as a unit of analysis. The database object of analysis is developed from an advanced search for terms in the international database Scopus of Elsevier Science. As a result of the search terms, 300 articles were obtained which were collected and processed using Microsoft Office Excel software. The first article was published in 1975, but it is in 2013 and 2014 when a significant growth is observed in the number of publications. The United States and the United Kingdom are identified as the two countries with more affiliations of authors, authorship, and centers, although the most productive authors belong to Spain. This research work provides information to researchers on the current state which the research is in and defines the areas of knowledge from which the study of organizational legitimacy has been approached—information that allows the academic community to assess the degree of maturity of research in this thematic area, as well as those areas of knowledge or approaches which have not been sufficiently addressed by the scientific literature.

At present, entrepreneurship and innovation are two basic pillars for regional development, so the entities involved in this development focus their efforts on enhancing the population’s capacities, taking into account, on the one hand, the resources available and on the other hand, local needs, which leads to public policies aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills within the population. This research focuses on identifying and analysing scientific production that deals with the subject of Entrepreneurship and Regional Development. The methodology used is the bibliometric analysis that enables to observe the evolution in the generation of knowledge in this thematic area, to identify the authors or research teams that work on it, to identify the knowledge, as well as the lines of research or approaches followed by research and the media, through which the results are disseminated. All this information will enable to evaluate the maturity level of research in this area. The search for the bibliographic material was done in the international database Scopus, in which 125 articles were identified. The results show that researchers’ interest in this subject is very recent and there are many approaches and lines of research that have yet to be explored, in order to deepen and understand this phenomenon.

Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, Loja – Ecuador E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT The present is a study on the connection that the institutions of Higher Education have with the community, and the obligation as an academy to contribute to the development of vulnerable zones. Here we analyze the existing resources on the Costa Rica Island, which is located in the Jambelí Archipelago, in the Santa Rosa canton, El Oro province. In this area there are approximately 520 ha. of mangrove, whose custody was delivered by the Ministry of Environment of Ecuador in 2000 to the Costa Rica Association; a methodology based on a theoretical exploratory analysis has been used in which data from primary and secondary sources was obtained to determine the biodiversity existing in the area, mainly in the mangrove, while the second phase consisted in the application of the methodology of survey and hierarchy of tourist attractions established by the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, composed of four points that are: survey, registration, weighting and ranking. The link that has been achieved through this study, results in the discovery of the tourist vocation of the island, since tourism as an activity contributes to the revaluation of the area and to enhance the initiatives of the comuneros, besides, consolidate the presence of the UTPL, as a pioneer in the development of social responsibility projects with impact on the community.
