Representaciones sociales: el significado de la educación física para los estudiantes de esa disciplina

This subject sought to analyze Chilean physical education students’ social representations by exploring what physical education means to them. A non-experimental, cross-sectional and mixed-method design was used. The sample was made up of 200 students from the pedagogy in physical education degree in 12 Chilean universities, who were selected under purposive non-probability criteria. The results show that the defining words with the greatest semantic weight are “health”, “sport”, “motor skills”, and “movement”. The study concludes that social representations in this field are linked to health and well-being, and relate to movement and the study of human motor skills, providing pedagogical value through aspects such as physical activity, recreation, and sport.

Análisis bibliométrico: tesis de grado de la carrera de Pedagogía en Educación Física de la Universidad de los Lagos, Chile (2009-2015)

La presente investigacion tiene por objetivo principal desarrollar un analisis bibliometrico de las tesis de los alumnos de pregrado de la carrera de Pedagogia en Educacion Fisica, de la Universidad de Los Lagos, Puerto Montt. La muestra esta compuesta por tesis de investigacion, defendidas durante los anos 2009 al 2015. La busqueda y extraccion de informacion fue realizada en Junio y Julio del 2016. Los resultados indican que se han escrito 77 tesis desde el 2009 hasta el 2015. Las disciplinas mas estudiadas corresponden a Psicologia con un 27,27%, seguido de entrenamiento deportivo con un 14,29% de las tesis, y los temas mas estudiados son Valores en la Educacion Fisica y el Deporte 11,69%, Condicion y capacidades fisicas 9,09% y Formacion de Profesionales de la Actividad Fisica y Deportiva 7,79%. Se concluye que en las tesis prevalece la disciplina relacionada con la Psicologia por sobre el area disciplinar de la carrera, sin embargo, se observaron temas relacionados con los valores en la Educacion Fisica, lo que le da mas relevancia al aporte de esta disciplina al desarrollo integral de las personas.

Tablas de referencia de condición física en niñas de 10 a 14 años de Chillán, Chile

Objective To develop physical fitness reference tables oriented towards the health of female students in the 10 to 14 year age range, in Chillán, Chile. Method The present is a cross-sectional study. The sample is composed of 250 female students in the 10 to 14 year age range. To evaluate health-related physical fitness, the following tests were used: Body mass index (BMI), Deurengerg Formula (Body fat %), Wells and Dillons Bench (Flexibility), Sargent Jump Test (lower limbs strength, 1 Mile Test (endurance) and the 30 Seconds Sit Up Test (focalized muscular endurance). Descriptive statistics were used to develop the reference tables. From the results, 5 categories were made: very bad, bad, regular, good, and very good. Age was used as a parameter. Results This study demonstrates the low level of fitness capacity of the group evaluated when compared to national and international references. It shows low levels of cardiorespiratory endurance, strength of lower limbs, flexibility, and focalized muscular endurance. The present study also shows that being overweight is associated with low cardiorespiratory capacity, and that there was a high prevalence of this in the sample compared to the national level of overweight and obesity in females in the 10-14 age range. Conclusion The tests applied in the present study are a reliable and simple tool for assessing the level of health-related fitness capacity. They can be applied in any educational institution, since a large or complex infrastructure for its application is not required.
