THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS FOR THE CULTURAL ADAPTATION AND VALIDATION OF INSTRUMENTS IN NURSING

Flávia de Oliveira; Tatiane Prette Kuznier; Cristiane Chaves de Souza; Tânia Couto Machado Chianca

Objective: to identify in the literature references about methodology used in studies of cultural adaptation and validation of instruments in Nursing. Method: it is aintegrative review of the literature based on a bibliographic survey in the LILACS, BDENF, IBECS, SciELO and PubMed databases, in August and September of 2016. Results: a total of 28 articles were analyzed. The reference that has been used for the cultural adaptation of instruments with more frequency (22-78.57%) is the one proposed by Beaton, Bombardier, Guillemin and Ferraz (2007); Beaton, Bombardier, Guillemin e Ferraz (2000) and Guillemin, Bombardier, Beaton (1993). These authors propose five steps: translation, synthesis, back-translation, committee of judges and pre-test. The validation is classified into three categories: content, criterion, and constructvalidities. This study has shown that the most used criteria for the validation of instruments have been the validation of content (18-64, 28%), construct (13-46, 43%) and face validation (9-32, 14%). Conclusion: it has been valued the judicious following of method with the use of reliable and valid instruments in the researchers developed in nursing. In this sense, the present study dealt with references used for the cultural adaptation and validation of measurement instruments. The most used references were about the types of validation applied. It was concluded that methods should be stimulated to guarantee the reliability and validity of the instruments were identified in the study

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the reliability of the Manchester Triage System to determine the priority of patients in emergency services. Method: This is a reliability study with a sample of 361 nurses. The data were collected in three stages and the questionnaires were applied using the electronic software. The agreement was measured by the evaluation of clinical cases. The outcomes evaluated were agreement with the gold standard and intra-observer in the indication of the flowchart, discriminator, and level of risk. Data were submitted to univariate and bivariate analyses. The agreement was measured by the Kappa index. Results: The external and internal reliability of the protocol ranged from moderate to substantial (Kappa: 0.55-0.78). The time of professional experience as a nurse, in emergency services and in the classification of risk were associated with external and internal reliability. The correct choice of the discriminator influenced the correct indication of the risk level (R² = 0.77, p <0.0001) more than the correct choice of the flowchart (R² = 0.16, p <0.0001). Conclusion: The reliability of the Manchester Triage System ranged from moderate to substantial and it was influenced by the clinical experience of the nurse. The protocol is safe for defining clinical priorities using different classification flowcharts. Objective: To analyze the reliability of the Manchester Triage System to determine the priority of patients in emergency services. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the use of simulations to teach lower airway aspiration. This is a randomized controlled clinical trial conducted at a federal public university in October 2016. The sample was composed of 33 students randomly assigned to intervention (n = 17) and control (n = 16) groups. The intervention evaluated the teaching of the lower airway aspiration technique using simulations (individual workshops and debriefing), and the control situation was represented by the teaching of the technique through the traditional method (expository class and group training). The outcomes evaluated were the theoretical and practical knowledge about the skill taught, whose maximum scores were, respectively, 19 and 29 points. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. In the theoretical knowledge, the average number of correct answers in the intervention group was 15.1 points and in the control group it was 15.5 points. In the practical evaluation, the mean score in the intervention group was 22.9 points and in the control group it was 20.8 points. There was no difference in the average of correct theoretical and practical knowledge about the ability taught between the intervention and control groups. However, students who participated in the simulated activities reported more confidence and reliability in the development of the technique in laboratory. We suggest the replication of the study with a larger sample for comparison of the findings. Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials: RBR-8bsmyz.

Objective: To identify in the literature evidences about the nursing process (NP) applied to softwares. Method: Integrative review, search performed in PubMed, LILACS and CINAHL databases and reverse search, from August 28 to September 9, 2016. The descriptors used were nursing, nursing process, hospital information systems, medical informatics, medical informatics application, public health informatics, and informatics in nursing. The sample consisted of 23 articles. Results: There was an increase in productions from 2000 onwards; most of the publications originated in Brazil and were characterized as descriptive studies. There were two categories of analysis: development and use of softwares. Most studies contemplated all stages of the NP, two cite the theoretical reference and three use the system for the assistance and management dimensions. The taxonomies used were the ICNP, NANDA, NIC, NOC. Conclusion: The use of softwares with NP strengthens evidence-based practice and consolidates nursing as a science
