ELASTIC SCATTERING OF POLARIZED PROTONS ON TRITONS BETWEEN 4 AND 12 MeV.

R. Kankowsky; J.C. Fritz; K. Kilian; A. Neufert; D. Fick

Abstract Angular distributions of the differential cross section and analyzing power for 3 H( p , p) 3 H have been measured at 21 bombarding energies between 4.5 and 12 MeV. (Each data set contains at least 15 points). The data have been analysed in terms of complex phases. The results of this analysis are compared with those of other analyses, with theoretical predictions and are discussed with respect to the level structure of 4 He.

A new excited level in 4He

D. Fick; H.W. Franz

Abstract With the D(d,p) 3 H and the D(d,n) 3 He reactions a new level 1 -1 , T = 0 is found in 4 He at 23.9 MeV. It is seen via an initial state interaction in the above reactions.

Levels in 5He excited in the elastic d- 3H scattering

K. Kilian; H. Treiber; R. Strausz; D. Fick

Abstract Using vector polarized deuterons, excitation functions of elastic scattering on tritons have been obtained for the differential cross-section and the analysing power. A resonance with unnatural parity was found at E d ≈5 MeV. The structure of this resonance and theoretical calculations for mass-five nuclei are discussed.

Die energieabhängigkeit der 2H(d, p)3H reaktion bei niedrigen energien

H.W. Franz; D. Fick

Abstract The proton angular distribution of the 2 H(d, p) 3 H reaction was measured with polarized and unpolarized deuterons. The results are compared with an improved theory of Rook and Goldfarb. At the energies 80≦ E ≦150 keV, the polarization efficiencies and the anisotropy factor are measured. They show a resonance-like behaviour at E ≈105 keV.

Untersuchung der reaktionen 7Li(p, p0)7Li, 7Li(p, p1)7Li∗ und7Le(p, α)4He MIT polarisierten protonen der energie 2.7 BIS 10.6 MeV

K. Kilian; G. Clausnitzer; W. Dürr; D. Fick; R. Fleischmann; H.M. Hofmann

Abstract Differential cross sections and analysing powers of the 7Li(p, p0)7Li, 7Li(p, p1)7Li∗ and 7Li(p, α)4He reactions were measured with polarized protons. The measured angular distributions are expanded into Legendre polynomials. The energy dependence of the expansion coefficients contains additional information about levels in 8Be.

The j-dependence of the vector analyzing power in the 6Li (d, p) 7Li reaction

D. Fick; G. Clausnitzer; W. Dürr; R. Fleischmann; H.M. Hofmann; K. Kilian

Abstract For the 6Li(d,p) 7Li reaction, where no j-dependence had been seen in the proton angular distribution, one can see a j-dependence in the angular distribution of the vector analyzing power. Compound nucleus effects are discussed.

Die analysierstärke der reaktion 6Li(d, α)4He mit vektorpolarisierten deuteronen der energie 2.1–10.9 MeV

W. Dürr; G. Clausnitzer; D. Fick; R. Fleischmann; H.M. Hofmann; K. Kilian

Zusammenfassung The 6 Li(d, α) 4 He reaction with polarized deuterons gives new information about the reaction mechanism and the T = 0 levels of 8 Be with even spin and parity. In addition, the reaction can be used as a polarization analyser for polarized deuterons at energies below E d = 3.5 MeV. Fortunately at these energies, the differential ross section is rather high.

Polarized targets-why? an answer in the framework of the nondynamical description of nuclear reactions

D. Fick

Abstract In the framework of the nondynamical description the nuclear reactions of spin type 1 + 1 → 0 + 0, 1 2 + 1 2 → 0 + 0 1 2 + 1 2 → 1 2 + 1 2 , 1 + 1 2 → 0 + 1 2 and 1 2 + 1 2 → 0 + 1 are investigated. In the case of the first two reactions a polarized target is needed in any case, for the last reaction no polarized target needs be available. In the case of the other two reactions a polarized target may be useful.
