A new modulation/multiplexing system using wavelet transform was proposed for (Third generation partnership project) 3GPP networks. This new modulation technique makes use of the existing standard (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) OFDM system and replacing the Fourier transform blocks by wavelet transform blocks. There are wide varieties of wavelet transforms are available, out of which four were chosen. They are Haar, Daubechies 4, Biorthogonal and reverse Biorthogonal transforms. The performance of the wavelet based OFDM system using various modulations like BPSK, DPSK, QPSK, DQPSK, OQPSK and 16-QAM was assessed by various parameters such as bit error rate, eye diagram and constellation diagram. The haar wavelet along with BPSK modulation is concluded as the best one. The BER results of all transforms and its eyeheights for SNR of 18db are as shown. The proposed system is named as (orthogonal haar wavelet division multiplexing) OHWDM which can be implemented for 3GPP based future cellular networks.

In this paper, we propose a new modulation/multiplexing system using wavelet transform. This new modulation technique makes use of the existing standard (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) OFDM system and replacing the Fourier transform blocks by wavelet transform blocks. There are different types of wavelet transforms are available, out of which 4 were chosen. They are Haar, Daubechies4, Biorthogonal and reverse Biorthogonal transforms. The performance of the wavelet based OFDM system using various modulations like BPSK, DPSK, QPSK, DQPSK, OQPSK and 16-QAM was assessed by various parameters such as bit error rate, eye diagram and constellation diagram. The best among all the transforms was concluded to be the haar transform and the best modulation was BPSK. The sample results of all the transforms with bpsk with an SNR of 18db are as shown. The proposed system is named (orthogonal haar wavelet division multiplexing) OHWDM.

Channel estimation of WCDMA with synchronized OFDM system for MIMO communication

A. Jenifer Philomina; D. Parthiban; B. Monisha; M.V. Priya; S. Suganya; M. Ram Kumar; N.R. Raajan

In this paper to improve the capacity and coverage of the channel in WCDMA with OFDM, a concatenation of Wideband Code Division Multiple access (WCDMA) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDM) is used as spreading code. Synchronization error which degrades the OFDM system performance is reduced by implementing Synchronization Algorithm which is used to estimate the offset and by using compensation technique these offsets are reduced which improves the system performance. This concept is implemented in Multi-input Multi-output (MIMO) antenna to boost the capacity of the channel for high data rate transmission.

Face Recognition has been beneath active research for more than fifteen years to improve its performance and efficacy under many challenging circumstances. We have introduced a new technique which uses Eigenface for detection of faces followed by projecting them to obtain 3 dimensional images. Here by using face modelling system a collection of 3D face models are built and principal component analysis is implemented over the set. The stereoscopic process to attain 3D is done by obtaining the disparity and depth map of the images. Using this disparity, the mesh is created for the face which is used as a proof for accurate identification. We go for 3D to increase the efficiency of the biometric systems. Our technique can be implemented in real time applications such as mobile phones, digital cameras and web cameras and also in biometric-based authentication applications.

Wavelet-based multiple access technique for mobile communications

Wavelet theory has emerged as a new mathematical tool that can be applied in many fields such as image processing, biomedical engineering, radar, physics, control systems and communication systems. The important area of application of wavelets in communication: multiple accesses. Among the multiple access applications one of the most notable work is wavelet packet-based multiple access communication. The two new multiple access systems are Scale-Time-Code Division Multiple Access (STCDMA) and Scale-Code Division Multiple Access (SCDMA). In a STCDMA system, Direct-Sequence (DS) Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is used in each time slot to identify multiple users. If time division multiplexing is excluded in each scale, SCDMA, which is a multimedia system, is obtained. These systems are analyzed over a synchronous Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) by using a conventional detector and a multiuser detector based on decorrelating detector for real and complex-valued PN sequences. These systems have better performance for complex-valued sequences compared to real-valued sequences. SCDMA can also be analyzed over an asynchronous AWGN by using a conventional detector for real-valued sequences. SCDMA is attractive compared to DS-CDMA, because it is capable of transmitting different rates of information messages. To be more specific, STCDMA is user-advantageous and SCDMA is information-advantageous. In STCDMA and SCDMA good PN sequences such as Kasami sequences are required because of the reuse capability while DS-CDMA has only limited number of them. Kasami sequences are optimal since the maximum cross correlation value achieves the Welch Lower Bound. The main purpose of using Kasami sequences is that, it decreases the multiple access interference. These PN sequences are very useful for multipath, jamming environments and synchronization purposes.
