Experimental study of fragmentation products in the reactions 112Sn + 112Sn and 124Sn + 124Sn at 1 AGeV

Production cross-sections and longitudinal velocity distributions of the projectile-like residues produced in the reactions 112Sn + 112Sn and 124Sn + 124Sn both at an incident beam energy of 1 AGeV were measured with the high-resolution magnetic spectrometer, the Fragment Separator (FRS) of GSI. For both reactions the characteristics of the velocity distributions and nuclide production cross sections were determined for residues with atomic number Z

Exploring Nuclear Radii from Total Interaction Cross Sections of Medium Mass Nuclei

The production cross sections of neutron‐rich fission residues produced in reactions induced by a 238U beam impinging onto Pb and Be targets were investigated at the Fragment Separator (FRS) at GSI. These data allowed us to discuss the optimum energies in fission for producing the most neutron‐rich residues.

More than six hundred nuclei produced in the fragmentation of 136Xe projectiles at 500 A MeV on a liquid deuterium target were identified using inverse kinematics at the GSI Fragment Separator (FRS). These data are relevant for understanding of spallation reactions.

Conceptual design of a large area time-of-flight wall for the R3B experiment at FAIR

Experiments with radioactive nuclear beams have enabled us to investigate nuclear properties far from stability. Glauber model analysis of total interaction cross sections measurements provides a useful method to determine effective matter radii. In this work we have taken advantage of the relativistic heavy ion facility at GSI for producing and investigate total interaction cross sections of more than hundred medium‐mass nuclei along long isotopic chains.
