User-centric Immersible and Interactive Electronic Book based on the Interface of Tabletop Display

Dae-Hyeon Song; Jae-Wan Park; Chil-Woo Lee

In this paper, we propose user-centric immersible and interactive electronic book based on the interface of tabletop display. Electronic book is usually used for users that want to read the text book with multimedia contents like video, audio, animation and etc. It is based on tabletop display platform then the conventional input device like keyboard and mouse is not essentially needed. Users can interact with the contents based on the gestures defined for the interface of tabletop display using hand finger touches then it gives superior and effective interface for users to use the electronic book interestingly. This interface supports multiple users then it gives more diverse effects on the conventional electronic contents just made for one user. In this paper our method gives new way for the conventional electronics book and it can define the user-centric gestures and help users to interact with the book easily. We expect our method can be utilized for many edutainment contents.

Normally vision-based 3D human pose recognition technology is used to method for convey human gesture in HCI(Human-Computer Interaction). 2D pose model based recognition method recognizes simple 2D human pose in particular environment. On the other hand, 3D pose model which describes 3D human body skeletal structure can recognize more complex 3D pose than 2D pose model in because it can use joint angle and shape information of body part. In this paper, we describe a development of interactive game contents using pose recognition interface that using 3D human body joint information. Our system was proposed for the purpose that users can control the game contents with body motion without any additional equipment. Poses are recognized comparing current input pose and predefined pose template which is consist of 14 human body joint 3D information. We implement the game contents with the our pose recognition system and make sure about the efficiency of our proposed system. In the future, we will improve the system that can be recognized poses in various environments robustly. ■ keyword :∣HCI∣Pose Recognition∣Interactive Interface∣

Large Scale Entertainment System based on Gesture Recognition for Learning Chinese Character Contents

Dae-Hyeon Song; Jae-Wan Park; Chil-Woo Lee

In this paper, we propose a large scale entertainment system based on gesture recognition for learning Chinese character contents. The system is consisted of parts that forecast user`s posture in two infrared images and part that recognize gestures from continuous poses. And we can divide and acquire in front side pose and side pose about one pose in each IR camera. This entertainment system is immersive in nature and convenient for its gestures based controlling system. Also, it can maximize information transmission because induce immersion and interest using two large size displays and various multimedia elements. The learning Chinese character contents can master Chinese character naturally because give interest to user and supply game and education at the same time. Therefore, it can expect synergy effect that can learn playing to user combining with large entertainment system based on gesture recognition.

Upper-body pose recognition using cylindrical coordinate system

Jae-Wan Park; Dae-Hyeon Song; Chil-Woo Lee

In this paper, we propose how to recognize upper-body poses using depth image based cylindrical coordinate system. In order to recognize the pose, we configure the cylindrical coordinate system belong to body features and the distance which is configured from camera to center of body using the pose candidate images. And we extract vectors of the features using depth information which are presented brightness values. The extracted vectors are mapped to radial feature space and classified pose pattern. And the pose patterns are learned using average of the feature points and recognized the poses by comparing pre-defined pose patterns using Euclidean distance. In this paper, in order to classify the features of the upper poses, we proposed method which can be composed of the poses and the upper pose patterns. The poses and the pose patterns are composed by using distance and angle from the center of the cylindrical coordinate system. In this paper, we purpose to extract effective pose information using simple operation applying dynamic cylindrical model to pose candidate images.

Dae-Hyeon Song; Guochao Chang; Dong-Min Kim; Chil-Woo Lee

Electronic book is usually used for users who want to read the text book with multimedia contents like video and audio. Many electronic books have been proposed with new interactive technologies such as spectacular multimedia effect, but these books lack in analog sensitivity and have only one way-based information interaction, and consequently those are inefficient for users. To solve the problem, in this paper, we propose a touch based interactive electronic-book; named RealBook, which can improve the interaction skill of the conventional electronic books by applying computer vision technology with SURF algorithm. Our method can use analog sensitivity and fuse digital effects by using user-centric gestures recognition skill. In the near future, we will develop a more unique and interesting system by introducing various gestures for the interaction.

Implementation of edutainment contents for Touch-Face system

Dae-Hyeon Song; Jae-Wan Park; Chil-Woo Lee

In this paper, we describe about edutainment contents to infant. We can call following PANSORI that user can have experience national classical music that is our country traditional music using imagination of musical instrument instead of real musical instrument. Also our developed operational based Touch-Face system that has intelligence style interface platform can play as a traditional pattern. The basic use of hand can be a tool of immediate perception of opposition and can be used this touch display directly to unaccustomed infant and children as very easy and comfortable. Because of these reasons, educational contents can become help to study efficiently because of there in preschool education more on Touch-Face based.
