The Gamification Model for E-Learning Participants Engagement

Danguole Rutkauskiene; Daina Gudoniene; Rytis Maskeliunas; Tomas Blazauskas

The active use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) caused the creation of new ICT application models in various sectors. Due to that, education is getting more and more interactive as more concepts of smart education are implementing into learning process. The new smart ways of learning bring new challenges to manage the learning processes and make them as much evolving as possible at the same time opening new self-learning opportunities through gamification as an effective engaging learning method. The aim of this article is to present the gamification model for e-learning participants’ engagement. The objectives of the paper: (1) Overview the existing approaches and models of gamification; (2) Present the design of gamification model for participants’ engagement; (3) Present the results of implementation of the gamification model.

An Ontology Oriented Approach for E-Learning Objects Design and Improvement

Armantas Ostreika; Radu Vasiu; Daina Gudoniene; Rytis Maskeliunas; Danguole Rutkauskiene

A Semantic Web is one of the most emerging research areas nowadays. Ontology is a formal specification of the particular domain that describes a set of objects and properties that the objects might have. The development of learning objects for integrated learning environments based on Semantic Web services (SWS) are still at a very early stage. The SWS technology allows teachers to design and personalize learning objects (LO) presented for the necessary content. The aim of this paper is to outline the state-of-the-art research along those lines and to suggest a realistic way towards the educational Semantic Web. With regard to the aim we first propose a LO design (or redesign) model on service-based interoperability framework, in order to open up, share and reuse educational systems’ content and knowledge components. The research will focus on LO design and redesign by proposing ontology-driven possibilities that reflect the modularization in the educational information systems. Some brief examples of implementation on the Virtual Campus platform of the Politehnica University Timisoara are also given.

Search, Exchange and Design of Learning Objects in Learning Objects Repositories

Daina Gudoniene; Danguole Rutkauskiene

The growing number of open educational resources (OER) causes the problem of search and sharing, design and reusability of learning objects in the semantic web according to a chosen subject. The authors have worked on the learning objects (LO) design model based on semantic technologies and now intend to present the integration of the model into a learning objects repository. The aim of the paper is to present the role of semantic web technologies in LO design, exchange and store in learning objects repository (LOR).

Methods and Technologies for ICT Workers Virtual Mobility

Danguole Rutkauskiene; Daina Gudoniene

The use of information communication technologies (ICT) in continuing and professional development is one of the possibilities for ICT workers to be oriented to job mobility or virtual mobility. One of the main objectives of the research is to develop prototype of e-Academy for older workers to improve engagement with ICT and benchmark and validate skills and experience against the EQF and to develop a platform for older worker’s that will be user friendly and will provide individuals with an opportunity to digitally their skills, experience and qualifications. ICT are important enablers of the new social structure. The aim of the paper is to present a prototype of the platform and virtual mobility, introducing software to the older workers for continuing and professional development. The role of ICT will be analysed for ICT workers in developing communication, cognitive, labour and business skills and competencies, to help them gather information (knowledge), to develop skills and abilities and creatively, to apply them in practice for achieving the teaching (learning) goals via e-Academy platform.

System Architecture Model Based on Service-Oriented Architecture Technology

Tarkan Gurbuz; Daina Gudoniene; Danguole Rutkauskiene

This paper involves the research of the tools that have a positive effect on the quality, effectiveness and value of eLearning. Due the complexity of actual software systems, including web portals and networks, it is becoming more and more difficult to develop software systems suitable for their intended usage. To tackle this problem, we can develop an integrated system for curriculum planning and delivery by using new technologies with a range of individualized constructive learning strategies and social skills acquired through constant communication, active sharing of knowledge and experience, joint activities in various groups, teamwork and training (learning) environments and social networks, with development and evaluation of the work performance.
