Interoperability of information system components for monitoring of sewage and intelligent analysis of water resources

Dale Dzemydiene; Saulius Maskeliūnas; Ignas Dzemyda

Abstract The interoperability problems of distributed databases are important in the developing of the operatively working web services aimed for all sectors of public administration. The following web services are designed for solving tasks in water resource management and contamination evaluation sector with a due attention to the international environment protection context. The paper is devoted to problems of developing the component‐based architecture of the integrated decision‐support system that afford ground for the monitoring and intellectual analysis of water management. Such investigations are made according to the requirements of European Union (EU) Water Framework Directive, Sustainable development Directives and EIONET ReportNet infrastructure. The main components of decision‐support system are analyzed by using different knowledge modelling and web service development techniques. The structure of water resource management information system (WRMIS) becomes the core of the decision‐support s...

Multiple Regression Analysis in Crime Pattern Warehouse for Decision Support

Dale Dzemydiene; Vitalija Rudzkiene

The application domain of crime investigation and prevention deals with incomplete information from a broad variety of data sources and a complex structure of interdependencies of rapidly changing situations. The paper describes an approach of integration of multiple statistical analyses for recognition of crime information patterns in data warehouse. With multiple statistical methods we develop a decision support system based on real data of warehouses of social-economic and crime indicators. The proposed multiple regression models allows gaining new insights into the structure of problem and developing strategies for crime prevention measures.

Abstract The aims of this research are focused on the construction of intellectualized equipments for people with moving disabilities to help them in sustainable integration into environment. The problem is to reveal main components of diagnosis of disabled persons, as well as to develop decision making models which are integrated into the control mechanisms of the special equipments, that are assigned to the class of bio‐robots. This paper analyses the approach of the construction of such type of bio‐robots with possibilities to integrate different knowledge representation techniques for the development of the reinforcement framework with multiple cooperative agents for the recognition of the diagnosis of emotional situation of disabled persons. Large‐scale of multidimensional recognitions of emotional diagnosis of disabled persons often generate a large amount of multi‐dimensional data with complex recognition mechanisms, based on the integration of different knowledge representation techniques and comp...

Multi‐layered knowledge‐based architecture of the adaptable distance learning system

Dale Dzemydiene; Lina Tankeleviciene

Abstract The quality of the distance learning courses is largely influenced by competently prepared educational resources and an effective study support system. One of the possible ways to improve distance learning infrastructure and increase its effectiveness is to extend the architecture of present e‐learning systems by the components for adaptable and sustainable learning. This research work is devoted to developing the service‐oriented distance learning environment adaptable to the users needs. The proposed adaptable communication environment of distance learning is constructed by integration of new components of communication scenarios generation, adaptable for students goals, multilayered domain ontology of learning subject and forming intelligent agents’ framework possible. The paper presents the knowledge‐based component architecture of the distance learning system, which enables a better adaptation of learning resources to students. The paper analyses the possibilities of integrating ontology i...

Mindaugas Kurmis; Dale Dzemydiene; Arunas Andziulis; Miroslav Voznak; Sergej Jakovlev; Zydrunas Lukosius; Gediminas Gricius

The vehicle as the context information source generates a huge amount of different information including from physical vehicle and environment sensors. The implementation of an efficient and scalable model for information dissemination in VANETs confronts with major problems. In this dynamic environment, an increasing number of context dissemination messages are increasing channels utilization which affects the network performance. This article discusses analyses and assesses the key proposals how to deal with the context data dissemination and how to decrease the amounts of transferred and stored data in vehicular cooperation environment. This is one of the most important topics of the pervasive computing.

Knowledge Representation in Advisory Information System of Crime Investigation Domain

Dale Dzemydiene; Egle Kazemikaitiene; Rimantas Petrauskas

New information technologies take new possibilities in detecting criminals and investigation of crimes. The paper considers the methods of knowledge representation helpful in the management of repository of criminalistics information system. The development of advisory system in crime investigation domain deals with incomplete and uncertainty information from the broad variety of data sources ensuring many forms of intellectual analysis and situation evaluation methods. New possibilities of knowledge representation are examined for the purposes to prepare the qualitative intelligent systems for crime investigation. The unified approach of integrating different databases and knowledge representation techniques for aiding advisory processes in relevant patterns recognition and crime investigation is proposed.

Integration of mobile control systems into intermodal container transportation management

Arunas Andziulis; Sergej Jakovlev; Danielius Adomaitis; Dale Dzemydiene

Abstract Over the last few years, a large number of researches have emerged and approached the use of mobile expert systems and other information management technologies in the area of intermodal container transportation and decision support. However, practitioner literature poorly analyzes the process of monitoring cargo transportation conditions, cargo information security and other important issues. The paper presents an emerging field of intermodal container transportation where the primary objective of the proposed mobile control system is to monitor cargo conditions during transportation in a real time manner and work as a decision support system. Also, the article evaluates potential risks involved in cargo transportation and therefore provides mobile cargo security assurance service. Computational results suggest using an optimum number of RFID and sensor readings to effectively manage the newly proposed elements of operation strategy in a conceptual strategy framework. The overall results indicat...

Conceptual architecture for dynamic domain representation

Dale Dzemydiene

Abstract This paper considers the representation of knowledge content of a dynamic application domain. The multi‐layered conceptual architecture assembles the models of knowledge representation on a higher level including conceptual models of information structures, dynamic process analysis, and problem solving tasks. The model represents behavioural analysis of the target system based on a piecewise‐linear aggregate approach.

An approach to modelling expertise in the environment pollution evaluation system

Dale Dzemydiene

The article presents a summary of research activities performed in the field of knowledge representation of rapidly changing and complex environmental protection domain. The consideration is attached to the representation of expertise that could relate the use and analysis of information base and evaluation of circumstances of enterprise functioning that influence the environment pollution characteristics. The knowledge structures simultaneously express mutual object communication and decision-making processes in time. A unified framework is developed through the analysis of various types, aspects, and the role of knowledge relevant to the decision support system using Evaluation nets (the extension of Petri nets). The attention is paid to the representation of dynamic and static aspects of a target system and to the specification of decision-making processes describing general reasoning courses at different levels of detailing.

Gediminas Gricius; Darius Drungilas; Arunas Andziulis; Dale Dzemydiene; Miroslav Voznak; Mindaugas Kurmis; Sergej Jakovlev

Usually, a hydrometeorological information system is faced with great data flows, but the data levels are often excessive, depending on the observed region of the water. The paper presents advanced buoy communication technologies based on multiagent interaction and data exchange between several monitoring system nodes. The proposed management of buoy communication is based on a clustering algorithm, which enables the performance of the hydrometeorological information system to be enhanced. The experiment is based on the design and analysis of the inexpensive but reliable Baltic Sea autonomous monitoring network (buoys), which would be able to continuously monitor and collect temperature, waviness, and other required data. The proposed approach of multiagent based buoy communication enables all the data from the costal-based station to be monitored with limited transition speed by setting different tasks for the agent-based buoy system according to the clustering information.
