Research on removal of dilute gaseous toluene using dielectric barrier discharge with TiO 2 photocatalyst

Dang Xiaoqing; Huang Jiayu; Chenlei; Liuxiao; Kanglu

The paper made a research on synergetic effect of dilute toluene decomposition using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma and photocatalysis. The effect of grounding electrodes, voltage, gas relative humidity and TiO2 photocatalyst on toluene removal was studied. The results indicated that the removal of toluene is greatly enhanced by photocatalysis, O3 concentration is efficiently eliminated in the presence of TiO2 photocatalyst. DBD reactor with copper band showed a better toluene removal effect than that with stainless steel mesh, but the former is inferior to the latter with respect to energy yield (EY). For optimal toluene removal efficiency, relative humidity in flow gas should be paid more attention, 30% may as well. To avoid the second pollution caused by NOx, the applied voltage should be a little lower than 20kV.

Research on Performance of Electrostatic-Bag Precipitator with Comparative Industrial Tests

Dang Xiaoqing; Shi Yong; Ma Guangda; Li Dongyang

The industrial tests made a comparison of three key factors under different filtration velocities, which comprised the outlet emission concentration of dust, grade collection efficiency of PM10 and the rising rate of pressure drop Meanwhile, the paper provided the reasonable scope of filtration velocity of EBP through the tests, which was helpful for the design and application of large-scale EBP.

Experiment Study on Optimization of Electric Field Performance for Electrostatic Precipitator by Using Finite Element Method

Dang Xiaoqing; Li Dongyang; Ma Guangda; Ren Yan; Shi Yong

The current density on the collecting plates were measured of 12 kinds of common discharge electrodes matched C480 and ZT24 collecting plates. The effect of different discharge electrodes and setting manners on the experiment results was discussed with two parameters of average current density and relative standard deviation. The distributins of electric potential and electric field strength were calculated by using finite element method when V serial discharge electrodes matched ZT24 collecting plates. Combining the results of the experiments and numerical calculation, the paper analyzed the effect of electric field strength on the corona current.

Study and Application of Numerical Calculation Method for Gas Flow Distribution of Large Scale Electrostatic Precipitator

Dang Xiaoqing; Hu Hongsheng; Ma Guangda; Yan Dongjie

The gas flow rate distribution in pipelines and the gas flow distribution at the inlet section of the first electric field were numerically simulated with CFD. According to the simulated results, we ascertained the collocation schemes of guide vanes in pipelines and on the plate of gas flow distribution. Meanwhile, we validated simulated results with the model test. Simulated results were in accordance with the model test, and met the requirement of the electrostatic precipitator.

Comparison of I–V Characteristics in Two Types of Wire-Plate Electrostatic Precipitators

Kang Yan-ming; Chi Jin-hua; Dang Xiaoqing; Zeng Han-hou

Publisher Summary This chapter experimentally explains the effects of some geometric parameters on the I-V characteristics of two different types of electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), one is a conventional wire-plate ESP, the other is a tri-electrode ESP. The performance of ESPs is usually obtained under different geometric parameter values and operation conditions. The ESP is one of the most commonly applied particulate control devices to reduce fly-ash emission from coal-fired power stations, cement industries, and many other industrial processes. The collection efficiency of an ESP is increased as corona power increases. However, the ideal design of an ESP is changed when high-resistivity dust particles deposit on the surface of collecting plates. One of the major problems for a wire discharge system is back corona. The results show that in a tri-electrode system, the corona current will be limited in the zone between two additional electrodes. The width of the cross channel should take the same magnitude as in wire-duct ESPs with the comparison of the two types of ESPs.
