The use of many multimedia channels in order to bring information to target groups is not something new. What is new is related to how these channels are exploited by mixing techniques and technologies. We realized an online questionnaire to identify the multimedia techniques/tools that have impact on user’s satisfaction. We used comparative statistical analyses (Levene’s test) to observe if there are any significant differences between multimedia users and non-multimedia users. We identified that the preferred techniques are: the presence of a narrator, the existence of some suggestive images, slides and demos. These are only some factors that we identified. We studied also the influence of features as: access to, scenario type, interactivity, flexibility, additional options and effects and time dependency. We determined that the existence of useful links is an important factor for overall satisfaction of the user with multimedia materials.

Web content management (WCM) systems, as a branch of content management (CM) gained importance during the Web explosion in the mid 1990s. More and more Web administrators came to the same conclusion: the Web content needs to be managed all over the content life cycle, static HTML pages are time consuming to maintain, and a lot of Web content from our faculty website can be recreated effectively. Content management solutions try to make web content more usable to the user community of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Iasi, thereby simplify the process of creation and publication of personal Web pages along with reducing the time and cost of content management. The critical objective of publishing Web content through the use of this WCM system is to automate the entire process of writing and publishing content. This can be done by integrating easy to use Web authoring tools with a large database of information resources, while ensuring that users receive well-managed and current information with a consistent look and feel.

The ordinary use of the ICT related “cloud” term mostly refers to the use of it for storing common office type files and accessing them with their corresponding remote applications. If considering the operating and processing part, the cloud computing collocation it is more inspired to use. The paper comes after some experiences of the authors in developing small general purpose applications by using the Google’s cloud scripting language put to work behind Google Drive and able to automatically run sequences triggered by different events including time or dynamically deploy them as web applications with a distinctive macro indicative in their URLs. The paper also presents some considerations on processing needs exceeding daily quotas of a single account and not suitable to be solved just by scripting behind a Google form or sheet. Consequently the authors exemplify some sides of the concept of installable and scalable cloud based web application requiring sign in to someone’s account together with authorizations for execution on his cloud drive and meant for real world scenarios in business, education and so on.

Nowadays many applications working with data sets have export options to the spreadsheet format. Most of the reasons are related to the common user’s experience with such products and to the possibility to build up further on something that is more than a simple static and read only report.Beyond generating alerts for exceptions or identifying clusters, association rules, decision trees, and many other patterns, the purpose of Business Intelligence is also to determine trends and make predictions about the future based on historical data. In this context, this paper shows some practical results after testing the automatic creation of time series charts and trend lines corresponding to the user’s preferences and not forgetting to suggest the most appropriate trend for the tested data.

Abstract The invention of printing press and the process of book production had an important impact on the entire human action, affecting almost every political, economic, social, religious and philosophical field. For centuries, the book production was mostly conducted in relation with the Church. And this is just one argument that could explain the contribution of religion and religious movements on accumulation and spreading the culture, stimulating the human capital evolution and the economic growth. The paper indicates the reasons why the level of book production can be considered an indicator of the human capital evolution. Several references to religion movements, printing and bookselling are also included at that point. The role of Reformation in the development of human capital and long-run economic growth is also emphasized. In its final part, the article brings some valuable ideas about the positive relationship of book production, literacy, human capital, urbanization and economic growth in Western Europe on the eve of Industrial Revolution. In these terms, it is taken into account a thesis regarding an economic growth scenario for Romanian territories, derived from a case study on religious roots of Romanian book production during (early) Modern Age.
