Ceratophrys joazeirensis Mercadal, 1986 (Anura: Ceratophryidae): New state record

This article provides new records to Ceratophrys joazeirensis of two new localities from the state of Sergipe, northeast Brazil. These records extend the geographical distribution of the species for municipalities from Poco Redondo and Caninde do Sao Franscisco. These points are the first records of Ceratophrys joazeirensis for the State of Sergipe.

Diploglossus lessonae Peracca, 1890 (Squamata: Anguidae): new records from northeast Brazil and notes on distribution

The family Anguidae contains three subfamilies: Gerrhonotinae, Anguinae, and Diploglossinae. In Brazil, there are four described anguid species, all from the subfamily Diploglossinae. Herein, we present the first records of Diploglossus lessonae Peracca, 1890 from the state of Sergipe and new records for the states of Paraiba and Ceara. The records compiled here for the Caatinga can reveal a pattern of widely distributed species in the biome.

First record of Pipa carvalhoi (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1937) (Anura: Pipidae) in the state of Sergipe, northeastern Brazil

The Pipidae family is represented by seven frog species in South America and Panama, strictly linked to aquatic environments. Pipa carvalhoi is currently distributed in the states of Bahia, Ceara, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraiba and Pernambuco, in Brazil. We report the first record of Pipa carvalhoi for the state of Sergipe, Brazil, in the Conservation Unity Monumento Natural Grota do Angico, Poco Redondo municipality. This study significantly expands the distribution of the species in northeastern Brazil.
