Neuroeconomics: Genesis and Essence

Making choices and decisions is one of the most important issues in the theory of economics. Neuroeconomics is a subfield of behavioral economics which uses empirical evidence of limits on computation, willpower and greed to inspire new theories of economics. The aim of chapter is to present the milestone on the development path of neuroeconomics, the essence of this science and areas of its researches. The literature analysis method and the induction and deduction method are applied here.

Origins of Experimental Economics

This chapter addressed the determinants of the formation and development of experimental economics. Its first part discussed the widely accepted definition of economics proposed by Robbins and its consequences to the methodology of economics. Emphasis was placed on those which referred to the applicability of experiments as a method to expand knowledge on economics. The second part of the chapter presented the short history of experimental economics. When describing the first experiments, the development path of experimental economics was carefully analysed, and emphasis was put on its contribution to the theories of both micro- and macroeconomics. The chapter is concluded with a brief summary pointing to the relevance of experimental economics.

Nature of case study as the accelerator for transmission of economic knowledge and entrepreneurship

Abstract Economic education is crucial in a modern economy where the knowledge makes for one of many resources. However not only the curriculum matters and the passed contents, but also applied teaching methods. The method related to Case Study may provide a good tool for economy and entrepreneurship teaching, as it focuses not only on the problem, but also on a student and takes into account teamwork. This method facilitates the analysis of enterprising attitude and economic practice, whereas shaping the soft competences stimulates knowledge transmission, facilitates knowledge assimilation and may contribute to development of enterprising attitude.

Preface to the Theory of Experimental Economics

Chapter 1 presents different definitions of experimental economics expressing its essence, features of a good experiment and guidelines for theorists of economics and experimental economists. The main aim of this chapter is to supplement some of the remaining chapters of the first part of the book “Selected Issues of Experimental Economics”. This chapter also works as a link between the other four chapters.
