Assessment of the Accuracy of the Process of Ceramics Grinding with the Use of Fuzzy Interference

Dariusz Lipiński; Wojciech Kacalak

Grinding of ceramic materials is an expensive process considering the cost of abrasive tools and a relatively small machining efficiency. This paper presents methods to increase the use of the technological potential of automatic machining of ceramic materials with a concurrent control of the machining accuracy. A method of an assessment of the influence of process variables monitored on the accuracy of the sizes and shape of ceramic elements machined was presented. An application of fuzzy interference methods facilitated a creation of a universal algorithm to assess the accuracy of machining independent of the accepted parameters and machining conditions.

Modeling of Microhardness Profile in Nitriding Processes Using Artificial Neural Network

Dariusz Lipiński; Jerzy Ratajski

A artificial neural network was assigned to modeling of hardness profiles in the nitrided layer. In the model developed, a feed-forward neural network was applied. The designed network possesses good capacities to generalize knowledge included in experiential data. Matching the model with the training data made it possible to determine, with a good approximation, hardness profiles, which make up a set of verifying data.

System for Monitoring and Optimization of Micro- and Nano-Machining Processes Using Intelligent Voice and Visual Communication

Dariusz Lipiński; Maciej Majewski

The article describes a new concept of voice and visual communication between the human operator and a system for monitoring and optimization of processes of micro- and nano-machining. The remote system for monitoring and optimization of process quality, which is equipped with a speech interface and artificial intelligence, is presented in exemplary application in the precision grinding process. The developed concept proposes an architecture of the system equipped with a data analysis layer, process supervision layer, decision layer, communication subsystem by speech and natural language, and visual communication subsystem using voice descriptions. In the proposed system, computational intelligence methods allow for real-time data analysis of monitored processes, configuration of the system, process supervision and optimization based on the process features and quality models. The concept allows for the development of universal and elastic systems which are independent of a type of manufacturing process, machining parameters and conditions. The developed block structure of the system allows for applications in monitoring of many other processes of micro- and nano-machining.
