An Overview of Ethical Standards for Group Facilitators

Since 1970 there have been numerous expressions of the need for a Code of Ethics for group work specialists. Guidelines for leadership qualifications, member expectations, advertising, confidentiality, voluntary or involuntary membership and protection of members from physical or psychological harm are all areas of ethical import to group guidance, group counseling, and group therapy which still need to be scrutinized by members of the American Personnel and Guidance Association. This article provides an overview of ethical standards for group work specialists and encourages counselors to support the development and adoption of a set of ethical standards for those interested in group work.

Sexuality and the elderly: A group counseling model

Abstract The purpose of this article is to propose a 10-session model around which counselors can facilitate awareness of sexuality and the legitimacy of its expression for older adults.
