In many respects, information and communication technologies (ICTs) pose new challenges to society. It is worth recognizing what ICTs represent within the urban space because of their widespread use and increasing presence in people?s daily lives. ICTs allow new ways of interaction between citizens and communities and, according to many authors, their use can improve not only communication within society, but also public management as a whole. Their use, therefore, favors greater social and economic development.

With the implementation of the Brazilian Digital TV System (SBTVD), starts a range of new opportunities and possibilities both for viewer as for TV stations. For the viewers, they will have an immense amount of channels, programs and interactive advertisements. For TV stations, it increases the possibility of advertising in new media. Within this framework, the opportunity arises for a recommendation system for applications and interactivity portals. This dissertation presents a proposal of advertising personalization into applications and portals of digital TV environment in order to bring a better experience to the viewer, a new form of income for the broadcasters and also a greater acceptance of specialized products for use. This work develops an application for interactive Digital TV called Smart Marketing, capable of capturing viewer navigation data through both implicit and explicit means by performing customized advertising from the process of knowledge discovery. Developed from AstroTV middleware, compatible with the Brazilian specification, its application was evaluated by means of experiment that used varied user profiles, applying into the generated database the process of knowledge discovery, which used tasks of classification and grouping. The results indicated the quality of the recommendation generated by Smart Marketing.

Considering the context of building management systems with wireless sensor networks monitoring environmental features, this paper presents a proposal of a Fuzzy Logic Based Routing Algorithm (FLBRA) to determine the cost of each link and the identification of the best routes for packet forwarding. We describe the parameters (Received Signal Strength Indicator - RSSI, Standard Deviation of the RSSI and Packet Error Rate - PER) for the cost definition of each path, the sequence of identifying best routes and the results obtained in simulation. As expected in this proposal, the simulation results showed an increase in the packet delivery rate compared to RSSI-based forward protocol (RBF).

A Internet e atualmente uma das principais fontes de distribuicao de conteudos e servicos em ambientes abertos, da qual o usuario comum vem se tornando cada vez mais um importante consumidor e fornecedor. Neste sentido, a possibilidade de predicao do crescimento da demanda, permitiria ajustes adequados dos recursos que a constituem de forma que possibilite investimentos e politicas adequadas, quer seja para seu crescimento e popularizacao, quer seja para inclusao digital e social. Considerando a relevância da Internet para a sociedade, o proposito deste artigo e analisar a evolucao de demanda da Internet, identificando e detalhando seu panorama atual e com predicoes de como sera em futuro proximo, tomando como base parâmetros de evolucao tecnologica e uso da Internet em diversos cenarios. Serao utilizados os metodos estatisticos de regressao linear e Gompertz para gerar as previsoes de demanda como apoio para tomadas de decisoes. Analises dos resultados obtidos por meio de pesquisas quantitativas feitas por institutos de pesquisas fazem a integracao entre a tecnica apresentada e os procedimentos executados.

This paper presents a decision making methodology to aid decision makers in the process to select and prioritize projects of systems compatible with cloud computing technologies. The methodology is based on AHP method, the hierarchy structure is composed by multidisciplinary criteria such as: Financial Analysis, Technology Architecture, Strategic Objectives and Governance, totalizing four criteria categories and 20 subcriteria. It has been implemented in an education company, and the results obtained and discussed in this article suggests its efficacy and application.

This paper presents an architecture to interconnect wireless sensor networks with the Internet, to extend the accessibility of this network. The presented solution is based in a proxy concept, using just the application layer of both networks. The objective is to verify the possibility to interconnect these different standards of network using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol and the web services technology. The real implementation and its tests suggested that is possible and viable.

This article presents a methodology for coverage evaluation to achieve performance and quality of service in WMAN, more specifically in WiMAX networks. For this purpose, it is used an outdoor calibrated site, where it is possible to evaluate the propagation metrics in different scenarios, such as LOS, NLOS and PLOS. The site is characterized through 394 points of measurement. This paper presents the evaluation of one point to represent the used methodology.
