Positron momentum spectrum and branching ratio of K+e3

Abstract The momentum spectrum of positrons from K + →π o +e + + v was measured. The observed spectrum, containing 1679 events, is consistent with vector coupling with upper limits of 18 and 4 percent of scalar and tensor admixtures, respectively. The K + e3 branching ratio was measured to be 0.0498 ± 0.002.

A threshold gas Cherenkov counter with large solid angle

Abstract A threshold gas Cherenkov counter to be used with a spark chamber momentum spectrometer is described. The angular acceptance of the counter is 60° × 13° at the entrance window of the counter, which is 30 cm × 20 cm. A uniform efficiency of 97% is obtained with sulfur hexafluoride at 7.45 bar (90 psi absolute), for 150 MeV/ c electrons.
