Fine dust collection in a rotary flow cyclone

When collecting fine limestone dust, a rotary flow cyclone performs considerably below manufacturers expectations. The performance is only slightly worse than predicted from fluid/particle mechanics, up to a particle size of 4 μ. Beyond this, complete collection is predicted, but only 90% collection is achieved.

Modified ’’Harvard’’ dry dust disperser

A modified dry dust disperser has been used to produce test aerosols from very fine powders which show a tendency to agglomerate in feeders and dispersion equipment.
