The emerging information, communication and vehicle technologies (e.g. autonomous vehicle) facilitate launching of new service concept in urban passenger mobility covering current and future transportation modes. Boundaries between passenger transportation modes are blurred. The vehicle movements are to be connected and integrated to a unified smart mobility service, where the particular features of the modes are not determinant anymore. In order to model this new, entirely telematics-based system and service all the current urban travel modes have been compared according to several aspects and the alteration of transportation and information process has been presented. The functional model of this rather complex system has been elaborated following top-down approach of system engineering. The presented results are essential for the future, as several novel research fields can be derived from them.

Efficient and environmentally friendly management of mobility plays a significant role in the smart cities. As the transportation systems and the information systems link the components, their development is essential for realization of complex city operational schemes. Information is one of the most important inputs for the activities, especially in transportation. Logical and physical integration of transportation information systems and services are required by the increasing expectation of travellers and became possible by the development of the info-communication technology. Since the results of comprehensive system and process-oriented scientific research on this area are slightly published, the devised analysis and modelling methods described here and their adaptation fill this niche. Herewith the architecture of the entire integrated system and the model of the intelligent traveller with the personalized mobile application have been presented in more details, but the method is applicable for each subsystem with different resolutions. The results are of great importance contributing to the success of the top-down systems engineering.

AbstractDue to changing expectations of characteristics of mobility demands, public transportation users increasingly require a reduction of both the preparation and travel time, an easier and more pleasant travelling experience as well as route plans based on reliable data. Both international and domestic research is widely concerned with route planning optimization. Exemplary assistance applications are already in operation, but they are only semi-occasionally and slightly personalized. Consequently, there is potential for significant research and development in this area. Our developed method and algorithm evaluates the routes based on the personalised user settings and in this way, the ideal routes can be determined. User preferences are represented in evaluation criteria. The algorithm also manages network modifications and often-changing user preferences. The novelty of our algorithm lies in the more realistic evaluation of the routes appreciably considering both the exact physical properties of the...

Efficiency enhancement for urban mobility is one of the key elements in smart city conceptions. Nowadays, there is significant underutilization of vehicle capacities in the case of individual vehicles, taxis, and vehicles, especially for food or small package delivery services. The motivation of our research is to reveal opportunities for so-called dynamic, combined ride-sourcing service. Passengers and certain goods sharing the same destination can be transported in shared vehicles. Since such novel service concepts are based on new forms of information management, the research question is: how the information systems and the operations are to be modeled in order to create the service. In such a service, demands and capacities are coordinated by dynamic prices based on real-time data. The logical correspondences of pricing are also revealed. During model development, we considered autonomous vehicles as well, because their emergence requires fundamentally new operational approaches. Accordingly, the developed information management method can be adopted for services based on autonomous vehicles. The results provide a basis for innovation and development of these services.
