Views of the children seem a bit sparse, perhaps because of the age of the subjects. One of the weaknesses of the study concerns its time frame. Because the researchers used a ten-year span for the samples, some of the subjects interviewed may have been recalling stresses that occurred as many as ten years previously. The authors note that the study is limited by its retrospective rather than longitudinal approach. Much valuable information about children with cancer and their effect on everyone in their environment is provided in this book. Inreading this material, health care professionals will better understand the depth and breadth of the issues experienced in the struggle against cancer.
