This exploratory study was an investigation of the use of film as a test stimulus for the measurement of learning in family life classes. A teaching-testing procedure which utilizes film in both the instruction and evaluation of students is described. The use of films for simulation in family life education has implications for increased instructional effectiveness and the potential transfer of concepts to life situations.

The contingent influence of family managerial efficacy and related spousalperceptions on the relationship between stressor pile-up and family cohesion is described. It was found that perceived loss of managerial efficacy in conjunction with discrepant spousal perceptions of such change substantially increased the familys vulnerability to stressor pile-up. Based on these findings the components for a preventive family stress educational program are suggested.
