Introduction: A Foreign Policy Framework for Southeast Asian States

David Wurfel; Bruce Burton

The comparative study of foreign policy, which lagged in the 1970s, has been revived in recent years by a new focus on Third World states, with a leading role taken by specialists on Africa and the Middle East (Shaw and Aluko, 1983; Shaw and Aluko, 1984; Korany and Dessouki, 1984). The present volume is an attempt to bring to another region, Southeast Asia, the same combination of area studies and concern for frameworks of analysis.
