Atuação de consórcios de exportação brasileiros no segmento de moda praia

Breno de Paula Andrade Cruz; Deborah Moraes Zouain

The article takes a qualitative approach to the activities of export joint-ventures in the beachwear fashion segment in Brazil from a marketing standpoint. Using the Grounded Theory method, the study seeks to identify categories that comprise and influence the export performance of three export joint-ventures of the beachwear fashion segment. The relevance of this article lies in highlighting categories encountered by means of field research and presenting the relationships between them. These categories were identified as major categories, intermediary categories and preliminary categories, and the objective was, respectively, to: a) identify characteristics present only in the joint-ventures studied; b) identify the promotional mix through them; c) characteristics present in the beachwear fashion segment of the joint-ventures studied. The article presents theoretical and managerial implications by presenting two major categories that are relevant in activities of export joint-ventures in foreign markets, namely marketing know-how in the foreign markets and joint-venture characteristics.

Deborah Moraes Zouain; Aristeu Coelho da Silveira

The study is based on strategic administration, focusing on incubators of technology-based companies, namely support undertakings for the spawning and development of such kind of companies. It stresses the importance over the past few years of the movement of incubators in Brazil and underscores the need, on the part of incubators, to adopt management models that are more relevant to the Brazilian reality. For this purpose, research was conducted into the dominant model in incubator management, as well as a comparison with the conceptual model described in existing literature. The research was of an explanatory nature making use of bibliographic al, documentary and field sources. The criteria of accessibility and existing structure of two incubators (UFRJ and PUC/RJ) determined the sample. The results show how more adequate models provide better conditions for the success of this type of undertaking

New configuration of the Brazilian state: liberty and development in the evolution of government in Brazil

Maya Reyes-Ricon; Deborah Moraes Zouain; Roberto da Costa Pimenta; Gustavo de Oliveira Almeida

The recent events in the global economy have revitalized the debate about the size and functions of the State. The neoliberal discourse was put in check, reopening the discussions concerning Market Liberty and the importance of the State. Since the proclamation of the Republic, the Brazilian government has undergone numerous reforms, sometimes assuming a liberal, external market dependent orientation, while at other times assuming an authoritarian, developmental state-driven orientation. The aim of this article is to develop insights into the evolution of the governmental organization and reflect on the assumptions that lie behind the various reforms that have taken place since the beginning of the Republic. The theoretical framework is divided into three parts: Development and Liberty based on the perspectives of Friedrich Hayek and Amartya Sen; the role of the State and its impact on the economy and; the formats assumed by the Brazilian State throughout the history of the Republic. The latter part of the work returns to the theoretical framework, summarizing all that has been discussed in order to fulfil the aims of the study.

E-government Impact on Business and Entrepreneurship in High-, Upper-middle- and Lower-income Countries from 2008 to 2014: A Linear Mixed Model Approach:

Gustavo de Oliveira Almeida; Deborah Moraes Zouain

Most electronic government (e-government) initiatives have the improvement of business atmosphere and the creation of new business as their objectives. This article aims to measure the impact of change of e-government index (and its composing sub-indexes) in the ease of doing business (EoDB) and the rate of creation of new business in the high-, middle- and low-income countries, seeking to test if there is a difference in the effects. The study used a panel data design (repeated measurements), with four points (years 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014), in three change periods (2008/2010, 2010/2012 and 2012/2014), collecting data from various databases: Doing Business Report by World Bank, United Nations (UN) E-government Survey, Corruption Perception Index by Transparency International and World Bank Entrepreneurship Survey. The data were combined and analyzed with linear mixed models procedures with fixed and random effects. Data suggest that different models should be applied to understand the relationship of e-government with outcome variables, according to the income level. Suggestions for future research are presented.

As a result it will be possible to analyze the characteristics of tourists who travel to attend sporting event in Brazil and profit the experience as a reference for the Olympics and for the country as a whole. The data indicate that for domestic tourism the World Cup had a family atmosphere and for international tourists it was an opportunity to attend the event and also to know the country. From the perspective of both, the Brazilian and foreign, the stimulus to tourism and the possibility of increasing the visibility of destination are the main positive aspects to host the World Cup in the country. The negative aspects are more specific to foreigners, issues related to travel, such as distance between the host cities, high prices, lack of tickets, public transportation, disorganization, followed by the issues raised in the first place by the national respondents, which are related to excessive public spending and financial mismanagement.
