Abstract It has been developed in France a new communication link based on a slotted wave guide put along the track which enables communications, control and command of trains. We present in this paper the characteristics and performances of this system called I.A.G.O. (Informatisation et Automatisation par Guide d’Ondes) which is working into the ISM band: 2.4-2.5 GHz. This system allows: broadband communications (100MHz) between ground and vehicles, continuous localization of the vehicles and real speed measurement. Several train control architectures will be discussed.
