The Determinants of Intellectual Capital Disclosure: A Meta-Analysis Review

The study examines the relationship between the corporate disclosure on intellectual capital and five firm characteristics namely size, leverage, profitability, age and industry type. The research uses a meta-analysis technique by taking 19 articles published between 2003 to 2013. In this way, this study integrates and accumulates the findings of prior studies. The research finds a significant relationship between intellectual capital disclosure and the independent variables: size, profitability and industry.

Corporate contribution in the health sector: the case of Bangladeshi banking companies

This study examines the contribution of the corporate sector in the healthcare sector of a developing economy - Bangladesh. In order to fulfil this objective, the researchers focused on the contribution of the banking sector through six case studies. The annual reports of the banks were taken as the sources of data. Content analysis of these annual reports was conducted. It was seen that in many ways, the companies in the banking sector of Bangladesh are trying to contribute to the healthcare sector of Bangladesh. From the context of a poor country, these attempts can be considered as praiseworthy.

Socio-Economic Situation of the Indigenous People in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) of Bangladesh

The aim of this article is to discuss the socio-economic conditions of the indigenous people living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) of Bangladesh. The article first identifies the several socio-economic problems faced by different indigenous people in different parts of the world. Then it describes the conditions of the indigenous people living in the CHT area of Bangladesh and tries to give some solutions to the problems they face. The descriptions and analyses of this article are fully based on available published literature on this topic.

Climate Change and Corporate Environmental Responsibility

Climate change, as an international environmental issue, is getting a lot of attention. The negative effects of climate change have become one of the most talked about issues among Governments, scientists, environmentalists and others. It is said that business activities are affecting the climate negatively. In order to minimize the negative effects of climate change, the activities of the businesses should be controlled and encouraged to perform in a socially responsible manner. The article focuses on the responsibilities and the responses of businesses on climate change issues. The article first highlights on two prominent issues: Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Environmental Responsibility. Then the article introduces climate change as an international environmental concern. Then, by going through several published literature, the article highlights various responsibilities of business towards climate change issues. The article also highlights the several strategies the businesses are following to respond to the climate change issues.
