Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPR): A Survey

Chirag Patel; Dipti Shah; Atul Patel

Traffic control and vehicle owner identification has become major problem in every country. Sometimes it becomes difficult to identify vehicle owner who violates traffic rules and drives too fast. Therefore, it is not possible to catch and punish those kinds of people because the traffic personal might not be able to retrieve vehicle number from the moving vehicle because of the speed of the vehicle. Therefore, there is a need to develop Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system as a one of the solutions to this problem. There are numerous ANPR systems available today. These systems are based on different methodologies but still it is really challenging task as some of the factors like high speed of vehicle, non-uniform vehicle number plate, language of vehicle number and different lighting conditions can affect a lot in the overall recognition rate. Most of the systems work under these limitations. In this paper, different approaches of ANPR are discussed by considering image size, success rate and processing time as parameters. Towards the end of this paper, an extension to ANPR is suggested.

Significance of stop word elimination in meta search engine

Biraj Patel; Dipti Shah

Various known meta search engines are built for specific search results. Based on search query meta search engine returns an aggregate list of search results from number of search engines. In this article, significance of stop word elimination for better search results in meta search engine is discussed, and new model of meta search engine is proposed. The output by proposed meta search engine and existing meta search engine like dogpile; with stop words and without stop words; are compared. The result shows that retrieved links in new meta search engine, with and without stop words, is more than 90% same where as by existing meta search engine like dogpile differ with more than 90%.

Ontologies: Need, usage and attainment of health care system

Mijal Mistry; Dipti Shah; Pranav Pathak; Abu Sarwar Zamani

The paper presents need for ontology, usage of ontology into real world. The things we need to keep into mind before processing. This paper presents the ontology architecture for the Healthcare domain. It shows the basic activities performed by the healthcare sector and its usefulness into this sector. We have included the ontology engineering methodology and developed sample model for healthcare domain. Ontologies are widely used in Semantic web W3C has declared OWL as a standard language for ontology expansion. This paper also presents the daily activities performed at hospital level.

Utilization of web services as multi agents in healthcare system

Mijal Mistry; Dipti Shah; Pranav Pathak; Abu Sarwar Zamani

The paper presents a business scenario showing how web services are used as multi agents for communication. Web Services will be augmented with rich formal descriptions of their capabilities, such that they can be utilized by applications or other services without human assistance or highly constrained agreements on interfaces or protocols. Healthcare domain is one domain where several complex issues need to be addressed. Multi agents can be useful to solve such complex scenario where minimal human interaction is required. In this paper we attempt to test the usefulness of Web Services in health care domain by developing an application. This paper also shows Multiple Agents have been created for different operations. Agent based approach has created new paradigm for developing complex systems by exchanging messages by autonomous mode.

Color detection in real time traffic sign detection and recognition system

Dipti Shah; Parul D. Sindha

Traffic or Road sign Detection and recognition is a real time system. It is also known as a Driver Assistant System(DAS) which is useful to the driver to provide information regarding the traffic rules, instructions and information given on the road at the time of driving. Basically red and blue colors are used for traffic signs. In this paper color detection algorithm is described.
