Summary An annotated list of 10 salticid species collected in the Khuzestan province of Iran is given. A new species, Menemerus errabundus sp. n. ( _ ), is diagnosed, figured and described. Three species, Heliophanus edentulus Simon, 1871, Marpissa nivoyi (Lucas, 1846) and Plexippus clemens (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1872), are recorded from Iran for the first time. Additional new faunistic records from the Mediterranean region and Turkey are given for five species.

ABSTRACT Twelve species of the Spartaeinae from Africa are considered. Previously unknown sexes are described for three species: Cyrba nigrimana Simon, 1900 (♂); Meleon raharizonina Logunov & Azarkina, 2007 (♀); and Meleon russata (Simon, 1900) (♂). Three species, Cyrba lineata Wanless, 1984, Meleon madagascarensis (Wanless, 1978) and M. guineensis (Berland & Millot, 1941), are redescribed and illustrated on the basis of the type and newly collected specimens. New faunistic records are provided for seven species: Cyrba lineata Wanless, 1984 (South Africa); C. nigrimana Simon, 1900 (South Africa); C. simoni Wijesinghe, 1993 (Burundi); Holcolaetis zuluensis Lawrence, 1937 (South Africa); Meleon guineensis (Berland & Millot, 1941) (Congo); Portia africana (Simon, 1885) (Ivory Coast and Ghana); and P. schultzi Karsch, 1878 (Madagascar). One species, Meleon sp. (♀ from Uganda), remains undetermined.

Alopecosa Simon, 1885 is a large genus of wolf spiders containing more than 166 named species (World Spider Catalog 2015), of which 81 valid species have been recorded from the territory of ex-USSR (Mikhailov 2013). In the mountains of South Siberia, to which the Altai Mts belong, 35 species of Alopecosa have been recorded to date (Mikhailov 2013), but findings of some of them require confirmation upon reference to the pertinent material. Yet, some authors (e.g., Marusik & Kovblyuk 2011) argue that the genus Alopecosa is a paraphyletic taxon that needs to be split up into a number of separate genera.
