The controllability and the observability of continuous linear time-varying systems with norm-bounded parameter perturbations are analyzed. The sufficient conditions which ensure the controllability of the perturbed system are presented by using the derived state transition matrix relationship between the nominal system and the perturbed system. The proposed sufficient conditions allow the evaluation of controllability under the norm-bounded parameter perturbations. The robustness of the observability is also studied for continuous linear time varying systems with norm-bounded parameter perturbations, and the corresponding sufficient conditions are provided.

In this paper, the observability and the degree of observability for stationary SDINS error are analyzed. The use of the Lyapunov transformation is proposed for transforming the conventional SDINS error model and the sufficient conditions for the observability of SDINS error model are analytically derived. A complete characterization for the degree of observability during two position alignments is presented which allows us to predict the performance of two position alignments in SDINS.

Abstract The observability of discrete linear time-varying (LTV) systems with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties is analysed in this paper. Like in continuous case (Chung, et al. , 1999), the sufficient conditions, which ensure the observability of the uncertain system, are proposed. In discrete cases, reconstructibility is no longer equivalent to observability, which results in the different form of equation in the observability conditions. The proposed conditions allow the evaluation of the observability for the discrete LTV systems with norm-bounded parameter uncertainty.

The proposed sufficient conditions allow the numerical evaluation of the controllability under the norm-bounded parameter perturbation. The observability is also studied for norm-bounded parameter perturbations and the corresponding sufficient conditions are provided.
