This paper focuses on how technologies contributes to improving interoperability between IoT devices, and making easily use of IoT devices. The proposed platform technology provides semantic-based IoT information services, and semantic interoperability of IoT devices. This service platform can be applicable to a lot of semantic IoT services: collecting invisible information in real environment by smart devices, providing smart life services by sharing, participating, distributing open sensing information.

This paper proposes an open software platform architecture to provide semantic information collected from various sensor networks and sensing devices. Semantically expressed sensing information and metadata of sensing devices can improve reusability of sensing data, therefore general consumers as well as the restricted user can observe, monitor and analyze sensing values from pre-installed sensing devices.

Smart grid is the next-generation intelligent power network which optimizes energy efficiency through the mutual real time exchange of information between power supplier and consumer through the integration of existing power network and the information technology (IT). However, the smart grid environment can have problems involved with personal privacy invasion. This paper suggests the creation mechanism of privacy policy-based protection system.

Rather than the USN applications specialized for individual sensor networks, therefore, this paper proposes an open application interface of USN Service Middleware Platform that provides common functions for the sensor data processing of sensor networks and applications in order for the development of application services for which broadband USN application services based on the various type of sensor networks and links of services are required. Using the application interface, efficiency in developing applications, integrating application services and maintaining application services can be improved a lot.

From the perspective of IoT, AmI is one of the promising application areas combining AI and IoT. Existing edge-based IoT platforms provide a centralized AmI intelligence such as perception, reasoning and learning. Recently, advances of technologies on intelligent IoT devices accelerate moving intelligence to the edge device, which enables edge devices to behave as agents. Though agent-based IoT is more suitable for developing AmI applications than edge-based IoT, application developers should design collaborations among individual agents in the agent-based IoT, which is not easy and cumbersome enough to be an obstacle to development. In order to solve the problem, in this paper, we propose a novel agent-based IoT platform called SLICE for developing and managing AmI applications. Our contribution is threefold. First, we propose a new system model for abstracting each individual agent and designing collaboration among those agents. Second, we design and implement a software framework to support developing AmI applications based on the proposed system model. Third, we design and implement a runtime engine and management tools to provide an efficient and robust execution environment for an agent participating in collaborations to perform AmI applications. As a proof of concept, we present complete lifecycles of developing a smart car based on the SLICE platform. From the experiment, we evaluate and verify how the proposed platform efficiently and effectively supports entire development phases, i.e. design, implement, deploy, and execute.

As the Smart grid is intelligent power grid, combining information Technology to the existing power grid. Electricity suppliers and consumers exchange real-time information to two-way and is a next-generation power grid to optimize energy efficiency. This paper suggests the implementation of load management application system in energy management service environment.
