QoS-constrained resource allocation for a Grid-based multiple source electrocardiogram application

QoS-constrained policy has an advantage to guarantee QoS requirements requested by users. Quorum systems can ensure the consistency and availability of replicated data despite the benign failure of data repositories. We propose a Quorum based resource management scheme, which resource Quorum includes middleware entity and network entity, both can satisfy requirements of application QoS. We also suggest a heuristic configuration algorithm in order to optimize performance and usage cost of Resource Quorum. We evaluate both simulations and experiments based on the electrocardiogram (ECG) application for health care, because this application requires transferring giga-bytes of data and analyzing complicated signal of ECG. Simulation results show that network capabilities are more important than computing capabilities, as both sizes of transferred data and computation task increases. Experimental results show that our scheme can reduce the total execution time of ECG application by using proposed heuristic algorithm compared to policy based management scheme.

Resource reconfiguration scheme based on temporal Quorum status estimation in computational grids

Quality of Service (QoS)-constrained policy has an advantage to guarantee QoS requirements requested by users. Quorum systems can ensure the consistency and availability of replicated data despite the benign failure of data repositories. We propose a Quorum based resource management scheme, which includes a system resource and network resource, both of which can satisfy the requirements of application QoS. We also propose the resource reconfiguration algorithm based on temporal execution time estimation method. Resource reconfiguration performs the reshuffling of the current available resource set for maintaining the quality level of the resources. We evaluate the effectiveness of resource reconfiguration mechanism in a Heart Hemodynamics analysis. Our approach increases the stability of execution environment as well as decreases the completion time compared to the method that does not adopt the proposed reconfiguration scheme.

An efficient replication scheme for data grids

Grid replication service improves availability in terms of storing multiple data at the distributed locations, however there is not any economic scheme to decide the location of multiple replicas. In this paper, we introduce the tree-based replica location scheme (TRLS) to decide the replica locations. The objective of TRLS is to minimize the sum of storage cost and communication cost of the replication, and the problem is solved using linear programming. The performance of proposed model is evaluated based on a manually created network topology. From the evaluation results, we present that the total replication cost increases exponentially according to the number of replicas and the number of hop counts is reduced by adapting relative weights to the scheme.

Tree-based replica location scheme (TRLS) for data grids

Data grids provide researching groups with data management services such as Grid-Ftp, Reliable File Transfer Service (RFP), and Replica Location Service (RLS). Especially, Replica Location Service could improve data availability by storing multiple data to the distributed location. However, there is no economic scheme to decide the location of multiple replicas. In this paper, we propose Tree-based Replica Location Scheme (TRLS) that could support users to decide optimally the location of multiple replicas as well as the number of replicas. By TRLS, we could minimize the replication cost since it supports us to find an optimal location, satisfying both storage cost and communication cost at the same time. In addition to, we could decide the number of replicas to satisfy users requirements. By minimizing cost, we make an economic decision, and we expect our proposed scheme could be regarded as a basic economic model.

QoS quorum-constrained Resource management in wireless Grid

In wireless Grid computing environment, end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) could be very complex, and this highlights the increasing requirement for the management of QoS itself. Policy quorum-based management offers a more flexible, customizable management solution that allows controlled elements to be configured or scheduled on the fly, for a specific requirement tailored for a customer. This paper presents a QoS guaranteed management scheme, Policy Quorum Resource Management (PQRM), which facilitates the reliable scheduling of the wireless Grid system with dynamic resource management architecture aimed at fulfilling the QoS requirements. Experimental results show the proposed PQRM with resource reconfiguration scheme improves both performance and stability, which is suitable for a wireless Grid services.

QoS-constraint Configuration Management Policy in Grid over GMPLS Networks

In Grid service, resource management is important to support capability for good quality and efficiency for the computing and storage service. In order to provide this resource management which has low complexity, high performance and high throughput with guaranteeing QoS, the well defined network resource management architecture and scheme have to be considered. Thus, we propose the integrated grid resource management architecture based on QoSconstraint policy and we derive cost-sensitivity policy enforcement procedure which can be applied to this architecture in Grid over GMPLS (Generalize Multi- Protocol Label Switch) network. Finally, the results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional scheme in the network performance such as a blocking rate of resource request messages and the operation cost.

A cost-optimized detection system location scheme for DDoS attack

DDoS attack presents a very serious threat to the stability of the Internet. In this paper, we propose cost-optimized detection system location scheme based on the zero-one linear programming model. The performance of proposed model is evaluated based on a manually created network topology. From the evaluation results, we present that the total location cost increases exponentially according to the number of detection system, and the number of hop is reduced by adapting relative weights to the scheme.
